In the Cotswolds there is a small market town called Minchinhampton, surrounded by a high plateau above steep escarpments with the thriving woollen industry all around. The roads across the common are important thoroughfares on the trade routes to Oxford and London, transporting the finest cloth to make uniforms for the famous Red Coat soldiers and baize for the billiard tables of exclusive gentlemen's clubs.

But, in the 1800s, these high, lonely roads could be treacherous places. And nevermore when haunted by the notorious highwayman, Tom Long.

Tom Long's Post takes its inspiration from the local legend of this nefarious roamer of the highways and byways of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds in England. There's more than one tale of how Tom Long's Post, the lonely signpost that sits at the coming together of six roads on Minchinhampton Common, got its name - this, obviously, is the real one.
