The Derelict is the saga of a homeless addict, but there is much more lurking below the surface. Like a feather blowing in the wind, our man finds himself getting mixed up in all sorts of nastiness. Accused of a murder he didn't commit, the derelict is sucked into a world of violence. Brutal police officers use him regularly as a punching bag. A secret is revealed about our hero's past midway through. People from the past and present are hunting him down. Morality is put on hold in this book, where even those who seem to be there to help have their own agendas. A person can't escape who they are and what they've done. The repercussions of one's actions are always there, haunting you, lurking just around the corner. This book is a wild ride through the back streets and alleys that we would just as soon turn a blind eye to, rather than acknowledge the inhabitants who've sacrificed humanity for gratification. Grim but with a vein of dark humor running through it, The Derelict is a true throwback to the independent comics of the 1980's. It is 56 pages of sleazy noir for fans of tough guy grindhouse cinema.
