The enemy is at the gates of the city of Ur. Soon, the city will be sacked and disappear from memory. The hours are numbered: this small group of citizens must flee and protect a few embers of the sacred fire; leave, carried by the mad hope of reaching the mythical Agartha, where the hearth of Ur can be reborn. The perilous journey could take years: will the haruspices of Tharsis let them pass? Are there still spirits in Lemuria? Does Agartha even exist? Whatever the case, the flame of Ur flickers, so the exiles continue their journey through storms, snowy passes and brackish marshes.

After Hélios (ed.2024, 2016), and Boule de feu (with Anouk Ricard, ed.2024, 2019) Étienne Chaize takes up his pilgrim's staff again, to tell the story of a group fighting for survival in immense, fascinating landscapes.
