A short comic 'My Mum Is A Wolf', adapted from my personal experience. The first edition is published in August 2024 with 20 copies in total.
Based on my personal experiences, “My Mother is a Wolf” tells the story of a fractured relationship between a mother and daughter. The manipulative mother created a tense and toxic family atmosphere, ultimately forcing the daughter to choose her separate path. This idea has existed in my mind for three or four years, and I have not implemented it before for various reasons of procrastination (Laziness). Now that I actually have this comic in my hands, I’m really happy I finished it.
Filial piety (孝XIAO), which emphasizes respecting the elderly and obeying parents, is a deeply ingrained Chinese tradition. Growing up in China for 20 years, like most other children, I felt compelled to follow these unwritten ‘’laws’’ or face moral condemnation. From my personal experience and that of some of my Chinese friends, toxic family dynamics have long existed but were largely ignored until recent years. I often felt anger and shame when communicating with my parents, constantly apologizing for my behaviour even when I did nothing wrong. I’m sure many people are suffering the same experience, just in different forms and under different cultural influences.
