A 36-page hand-illustrated tale, Portal follows a man as he
embarks on an unexpected psychedelic journey through his own mind. Printed in UK
standard comic book size, the story explores both inward and outward realms. It resists clear
moral lessons, much like Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, and is drawn with the
meticulous detail of Charles White and the countercultural edge of Robert Crumb. Like
Portal’s protagonist, Gonz is also on a solitary creative journey.
