Please note! The title of this book is in French but the contents is entirely wordless/silent.

In a starry sky, a shining sphere crosses the night, hypnotically attracting the eye. Alternating between close-ups and wider views, Clément Vuillier's drawing plays with extreme contrasts and graphic transformations to follow the journey of this mysterious object through the cosmos. At last, the sphere approaches a rocky star, a sort of dead, gray moon in appearance. Yet beneath the surface of this mineral desert, colored precious stones are pulsing. The sphere stops, opens up, and suddenly the drilling begins, laminating the ground, spouting volcanoes of rock, until the great final explosion; only a few disemboweled blocks now drift in weightlessness.

The star and its buried beauties are nothing but dust, and the sphere resumes its celestial course.

Clément Vuillier deploys all his virtuosity in these images of devastation: where does this sphere come from? what resources does it collect? We know nothing of this exploitation, except that it leaves behind only a desolate void - and a taste of metal in our throats. Born in 1988, Clément Vuillier graduated from the Ecole Estienne and the Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg. At the same time, with Yann Kebbi and Idir Davaine, he set up the 3 fois par jour publishing house, which is still active today. In 2021, he was awarded the Prix de Dessin Pierre David-Weill by the Académie des Beaux-Arts. After "Le Voyage céleste extatique" (2015) and "L'Année de la comète" (2019), Terre rare is his third book published by Editions 2024.
