Drink and Draw with Dominique Duong, Mark Stafford and Lucy Sullivan

We're back! Many moons ago, we partnered up with our good friends over at Broken Frontier to host a monthly evening of mutual drawing and cartooning at our local pub. These events were incredibly fun and a personal highlight for me before I had even started working here at Gosh! The events were sadly put on hold in 2020 as a result of the pandemic. Since then, the event has been adapted to run online via our socials and has been extremely successful, but we've always been eager to finally have it's return offline and in person. We're incredibly excited to announce that it is finally returning at our new Drink and Draw home, The Royal George! We'll be joined by our resident cartoonist Mark Stafford, along with special guests Lucy Sullivan and Dominique Duong on Friday 27th June 2025.

So, what is a Drink and Draw? Well, it's in the name! We'll host an evening of drawing with our guest comic artists, all while having a few drinks together, alcholic and non alcholic. Mark Stafford, our resident cartoonist, will be a regular face at the monthly event, being joined by two guest artists every time. We'll meet at Gosh! for 6.30pm, where they'll be a chance to mingle with the artists and check out their comics, before we head over to The Royal George for 7pm. Once everyone has grabbed a seat and a drink, we'll start three short rounds of drawing, with each guest artist setting their own drawing theme. Gosh! will have the artists work on sale and may even have some prizes for their favourite drawings! We will likely wrap up by 9pm, but staying afterwards to continue the fun is more than welcome.

Broken Frontier and ourselves have been running the Drink & Draws since 2015 and we've been lucky enough to have had over 200 guest artists attend! The first session was actually on June 25th 2015, so it feels rather fitting to have our exciting return on it's 10th anniversary. It will be hosted by Broken Frontier's wonderful Andy Oliver and Gosh's Will Humberstone.

Mark Stafford writes, paints and draws. He is co-creator of the Cherubs! graphic novel with Bryan Talbot, and previously collaborated with Dave Hine on 'The Colour Out Of Space' for SelfMadeHero's The Lovecraft Anthology: Volume I. He is the longstanding cartoonist-in-residence at The Cartoon Museum, London, and writes about cinema for Electric Sheep magazine.

Lucy Sullivan is a Writer & Artist from London (UK) who creates stories around social concerns combined with folklore and expressive mark making. Best known for her acclaimed debut graphic novel BARKING, based on the her own experience of a mental health crisis. The new edition launched ’24 with Avery Hill Publishing and is part the Required Reading List for UCLA’s Art & Trauma Collegiate.

Dominique Duong is an illustrator and comic artist based in London, who creates queer fantasy, horror and romance comics, as well as a little dabbling in autobio. At the core of her work, she is most fascinated in creating stories about damaged people and the dysfunction (as well as the solace) they find in each other.

We're so excited to see some familiar faces again at our Drink and Draws, and hopefully some fresh ones too! The event is free and everyone is welcome. We will be meeting at Gosh! Comics at 6.30pm on Friday 27th June 2025. There will be limited seating available at the Royal George and seating will be prioritised to those who were at the shop first. Look forward to seeing you then! Oh, and the online Drink and Draw will still continue for those who can't make it!
