Free Comic Book Day 2022 @ Gosh!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Kieron has tested positive for covid (happily asymptomatic), so the signing is now CANCELLED. We apologise for any disappointment, but rest assured we're already working on a rescheduled appearance. The rest of our FCBD celebrations will continue as planned!

Mark your calendars: Free Comic Book Day is upon us again on Saturday 7th May, and we'll be opening at the early time of 10am to celebrate! And for the first time since 2019, Gosh will be putting on an events programme for the day, including our ever-popular kids drawing table from 10am - 12pm, and a signing with the incredible Kieron Gillen from 1pm-2pm! Not to mention of course literally thousands of comics to give away!

THE COMICS

As always, we'll be carrying the full range of Free Comic Book Day titles that are available in the UK (no Donald Duck, sorry), including those offered by DC Comics, and as with last year's event we will be trying to reduce in-store congestion by distributing them in blind bags of 5 comics, available free with a purchase. We'll also have bags of kid-appropriate titles available free for younger readers who pass through the store on the day. Bags will be available while stocks last.

COVID

We appreciate that it generally feels like things are back to normal these days, and that mask-wearing has become a thing of the past for most, but the fact is that covid rates are still very high. We at Gosh believe in getting back to as normal a life as possible, with just some minor, sensible precautions to try and help reduce the risk of infection. We want to protect vulnerable loved ones, and our staff - who deal with a large number of customers in a face-to-face manner each and every day - would rather not get sick if it can be helped. With that in mind, we would ask all attendees who are not clinically exempt from doing so to wear a face covering when visiting the store. This is not something we enforce, but rather ask it of customers as a matter of consideration.

KIDS DRAWING TABLE

The drawing table, a chance for kids to sit and work alongside professional comics artists, will be in effect from 10am - 12pm, and is open to all keen illustrators from ages 6-12. As ever we have split the time into themed groups of artists to draw along with your precious tykes!

At 10am - 11am, representing young upstart kids GN publisher Bog Eyed Books will be TOR FREEMAN, GARY NORTHFIELD, WOODROW PHOENIX and DAVID ZIGGY-GREENE!

Then weighing in at 11am-12pm we'll have RAMZEE and KORINNA VEROPOULOU here representing 2000AD Regened, Rebellion's younger reader re-imagining of the classic British sci-fi anthology!

No booking required or materials needed, just come on down and wait for a free seat. We'd only ask that all attendees are considerate of others waiting to draw, and ration their time accordingly.
