HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

• CAPTAIN AMERICA #1 - Chip Zdarsky and Valerio Schiti relaunch Cap with a story set in the years shortly after he has been woken from his icy slumber! It's a fun setup actually: adjusting to this new world, Rogers learns of a would-be dictator who has conquered a small Eastern European nation. How should he respond to this kind of provocation now? The country in question? Latveria. And the man is (duh) VICTOR VON DOOM!

• DR WERTHLESS THE MAN WHO STUDIED MURDER HC - Harold Schechter and Eric Powell, the team behind "Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done?", turn their eye toward another altogether more complicated figure (for us comics folks, anyway). Dr Frederick Wertham is notorious for his role in the vilification of comics in the 1950s, but there's more to him than the common caricature of a small-minded moral crusader. Time for a lesson in "people are complex."

• GOTHAM CITY SIRENS UNFIT FOR ORBIT #1 - Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are at it again for another weekly mini, courtesy of Leah Williams and Haining. What starts as a intergalactic disco heist soon turns into a battle with Despero.

• X-MEN HELLFIRE VIGIL #1 - One year on from the final Hellfire Gala that spelt the end of the Krakoan era, mutantkind gets back together to commemorate and reconnect. This anthology one-shot features all of the X-creators at the big reunion, setting up what's happening in the year to come.

• SISTERHOOD A HYDE STREET STORY #1 - A mini-series spin-off from Geoff Johns' Hyde Street, by Maytal Zchut & Leila Leiz. After the death of her childhood friend, a young woman seeks the help of psychic Sister Hood to speak with her one last time. Again, I don't know how anyone could think something might go wrong in consulting some kind of creepy psychic with a name like "Sister Hood."

• GEHENNA NAKED AGGRESSION #1 - Patrick Kindlon and Maurizio Rosenzweig return to the universe of the Frontiersman with a hard-hitting action tale of a woman with an ever-growing contract on her head, and a mission to take out the source of her troubles.

• WOLVERINES AND DEADPOOLS #1 - The Wade and Logan team-up train steams on, now with added team up! Cody Ziglar and Rogê Antônio bring the young 'uns into the mix, as Ellie Camacho and Laura Kinney join the fray.

• X-MEN BY CHRIS CLAREMONT PRELUDE TO A FUTURE PAST #1 - Reprinting the Days of Future Past prelude by Chris Claremont and Salvador Larrocca that was only previously available in a deluxe hardcover collection. And as a Brucie Bonus, you get Uncanny X-Men #141 & 142 in there as well!

• MARVEL ZERO #1 - A bundled-up one-shot of this year's FCBD books from Marvel, featuring Joe Kelly, John Romita Jr., Deniz Camp, Cody Ziglar, Jonas Scharf, Ryan North, Humberto Ramos, Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing and Chip Zdarsky.
