The Gosh! Authority 06.08.25

Hello!

ant-story-600.jpg

The lovely lads from King Louie's Lab are here this Friday to launch their latest Ant Story collection Wit's End! Get yourself along to meet Fred and Dominic and get your copy signed! Details here.

I've been buried under job applications this week (seriously, more than 200 of them!), so this will be succinct! I mean, more than usual, even!

And speaking of job applications, be sure to say farewell to Emma if you see her this week, as she finishes on Friday!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • AVENGERS IN THE VERACITY TRAP HC - An original graphic novel in the vein of Alex Ross' Fantastic Four Full Circle, also published by Abrams ComicArts. Chip Kidd writes and Michael Cho draws this standalone Avengers story set in their earliest days. Loki sets up what seems like a fairly standard monster bash, but it turns into something a little more meta as Loki's motives become apparent.

  • X-MEN AGE OF REVELATION #0 - A revelation to us all! This one-shot was stealth-announced a few weeks ago, a kick-off to a big X-event set 10 years in the future following the events of the Heir of Apocalypse mini-series. Revelation (the reborn Doug Ramsey) has created a new mutant utopia...OR IS IT??? Dum duh duuuuum! Anyway, as a 30th anniversary (!) celebration of Age of Apocalypse, we're getting the full multi-mini treatment, and it all starts here!

  • CHEETAH AND CHESHIRE ROB THE JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 - The very welcome return of Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott to the DCU! Cheetah and Cheshire have assembled a team of misfits for an impossible-seeming heist: the Justice League Watchtower. What could possibly go wrong?

  • HERO TRADE PROJECT CHIMERA #1 - Following on from the collection released last week, Matt Kindt and David Lapham's sordid superhero story continues with a two-parter. Turns out being the babysitter for a lethal superhuman asset isn't a particularly fun time, as Project Chimera agents Hank and Ingrid can tell you.

  • CUL-DE-SAC #1 - Not seen a lot from Mike Carey in comics lately, so it's great to have him back alongside artist Jonathan Wayshak for this twisted tale of suburban vampirism. The kids in the cul-de-sac have some serious choices to make about their future, and the vampires and vampire hunters aren't making it any easier.

    • WOLVERINE BY CHRIS CLAREMONT #1 - Previously only available as a bonus story in a super-limited reprint collection of Chris Claremont stories (the Paragon Collection), this one-shot collaboration with Tom Reilly is now available for us common folk to enjoy! Plus there's a bunch of material celebrating Claremont's Marvel career.

    • ORLA! #1 - Orla is on the dating scene, a hopeless romantic with a dark secret: a man-eating monster that appears when she is angry or afraid. But she carries on undaunted, looking for love while also cleaning the scum out of the Seattle dating scene. Some typically catchy horror from John Lees, joined by artist Sally Cantirino.

    • BLINK AND YOU’LL MISS IT #1 - Ethan S. Parker, Griffin Sheridan and Keith Browning spin a time-bending fable about secrets, choices and regrets as a young woman starts to fall back through time in the town she grew up in.

    • GODZILLA ESCAPE THE DEADZONE #1 - Griffin Sheridan, Ethan S. Parker (them again!) and Pablo Tunica expand the new Kai-Sei era of Godzilla, going inside the walled off area of the Pacific Northwest known as the Deadzone, where nothing survived an attack by Godzilla. Or did it?

    • MARVEL RIVALS HELLFIRE GALA #1 - The video game franchise does its own take on the annual gathering of Mutantkind, courtesy of Paul Allor and Dan Scalisi.

    And that's me done!

    Andrew.
