The Gosh! Authority 07.07.21

Hello!

Not much to report this week, but keep an eye on our social media as we've got two big product announcements - one bookplate and one print - coming this week which are both probably going to sell out fairly quickly.

In other not-so-positive news, we are going to have to temporarily suspend shipping to EU countries while we sort out the confusing mess of new VAT on shipping regulations post-1st July. We're hoping to resume as quickly as possible, and apologies to those affected. Believe us, it's not something we want to do, but we want to avoid EU customers being slapped with unexpected VAT and customs charges.

Coming to you late and brief this week as I spent the weekend in a (mostly rainy) field in East Sussex. Ahh, the joys of summer camping!"Making memories for the kids" I kept saying as the rain beat so hard against the side of the tent that my daughter had night-terrors. Err...anyway, I digress. On with the comics!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

• X-MEN #1 - Gerry Duggan and Pepe Larraz take the reins of the core X-book as the new team of X-Men - Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Sunfire, Rogue, Wolverine, Synch and Polaris - represent Krakoa on the superheroics world stage.

• SKYBOUND X #1 - Robert Kirkman celebrates the 10th anniversary of his Skybound imprint with a 5-issue anthology mini-series. Featuring fresh takes on old favourites and brand new characters, the series is held together by Rick Grimes 2000, a loopy-looking tale starring everyone's favourite zombie-killing sheriff. This issue is also notable for a WD story starring theTellTale games character Clementine by Gosh! fave Tillie Walden.  

• ORDINARY GODS #1 - Five gods are engaged in an eternal war, now trapped in an endless cycle of human reincarnation. The latest to be reborn is living as Christopher, an ordinary 22 year old living a dull, pedestrian life. That all changes when his past lives drag him kicking and screaming back into the ongoing conflict. Kyle Higgins and Felipe Watanabe deliver a fun-looking series.

• MAMO #1 (OF 5) - A stunning new series by Sas Milledge. Orla is a hedge witch who has left her small town to excape her destiny and forge a new path. But when her grandmother dies, the delicate balance between the fae world and our own is disrupted and she's pulled back in to the life she wants to leave behind. And just to reiterate: it's bloody gorgeous.

• FIGHT GIRLS #1 - Frank Cho's much-delayed sci-fi comic debuts at last. Ten women take on the challenge of survival on a harsh alien world in order to win a galactic crown.

• BATMAN SECRET FILES SIGNAL #1 - Kicking off a new series of one-shot tales spotlighting the ever-expanding Bat-cast, each with a different creative team. After having been away from Gotham, the Signal returns to his role as its daytime protector. Tony Patrick & Christian Duce are in charge on this one.

• EXTREME CARNAGE ALPHA #1 - The new symbiote status-quo starts here as the Life Foundation - the collective of Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher and Agony - try to find their way in the wake of King in Black. And they're not the only ones: remember Carnage? Phillip Kennedy Johnson & Manuel Garcia do, and they're here to spin a story about it.

• JUSTICE LEAGUE INFINITY #1 - Of course we all agree that Batman The Animated Series is the finest superhero cartoon ever made, but entertainment pound for pound, I'd say Justice League Unlimited was the champ. The kind of all DC team-up cartoons is now continued in this new series by cartoon series producer James Tucker, veteran writer J.M. DeMatteis (who was also a writer on the cartoon) and artist  Ethen Beavers.

• MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE REVELATION #1 - Kevin Smith's much-touted resurrection of He-Man and company for Netflix also gets a comics prequel written by Smith, Rob David and Tim Sheridan with art by Mindy Lee.
