Hello!

Yes, love is in the air, the daffodils are starting to blossom, and it's not dark when I pick the kids up from after school club. Things are looking up, everyone! Except for new releases this week, because they're rather sparse (which may actually be a relief for some). Shall we take a look?

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK 

• SECRET X-MEN #1 - Forget the New Mutants, Cannonball and Sunspot have a new mutant team: the Secret X-Men! (Though I'm assuming they don't call themselves that.) Sam and Roberto lead Boom-Boomn Marrow, Tempo, Forge, Banshee, Strong Guy & Armor on a clandestine mission to aid the Shi'ar empire. Tini Howard and Francesco Mobili have the privilege of launching the first new book of the next era of mutantdom!

• SUICIDE SQUAD BLAZE #1 - Simon Spurrier (who, now we think about it, is the perfect writer for a Suicide Squad project) and Aaron Campbell present a new Black Label mini-series starring Task Force X, with a killer hook. Harley Quinn, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang and King Shark must lead a team of five new squad recruits who have been subjected to a process which grants them superhuman abilities, but kills them within a year, maximum. Always up for that Strikeforce Morituri vibe, but the catch is that as each dies, the others get stronger. Not a great recipe for dealing with treacherous, power-hungry criminals with nothing to lose. But hopefully they can keep them all together long enough to take down the Superman-level metahuman they've been tasked to stop.

• STRANGE LOVE ADVENTURES #1 - Last week I said that Fantastic Four Reckoning War would be the ideal Valentine's Day gift for your loved one. A ridiculous joke of course, when Strange Love Adventures exists! You love comics: now show your love by showing your loved ones (or intended loved ones) what you love! They're not a comics fan? Well, that's just because they've never had a seasonal DC 80 page giant given to them for Valentine's Day. And YOU can be the one to change that! Order today to avoid disappointment (because I can't sell these things after next Monday...).

• CHILDREN OF THE WOODS TP - An intriguing horror graphic novel by Joe Ciano & Josh Hixson which takes us through the other side of a supernatural revenge tale, where the price must be paid for the fortune that was granted. Amber and Quinn become dragged into the dark secrets of the Black Woods after using it's power to exact retribution on those who have done them wrong.

And that is it! It's a good-sized week otherwise, just not a lot of new stuff. But don't worry, I'll be back in 7 short days with a whole new batch of comic goodies!
