The Gosh! Authority 09.04.25

Hello!

rogue-trooper-600-edit-2.jpg

We've got a biggie this weekend, as we celebrate the release of Rogue Trooper The Complete Collection Volume One with a signing by Gerry Finlay-Day and Dave Gibbons! Yep, come down this Saturday, 1-2pm, to meet the legends responsible for co-creating your favourite blue infantryman and get your copy signed. Please note: you're welcome to bring your own items to be signed, but we expect this event to be very busy, so we're putting a 5 item limit in place from the get-go. So leave that suitcase at home, pick out just your favourite bits, and get on down here! Details here.

But don't forget, before that it's the latest edition of Reads, the monthly graphic novel reading group! Meet here from 7-9pm this Wednesday to discuss Tokyo These Days Volume One, the first book in Taiyo Matsumoto's brilliant new manga series. Everyone is welcome! Details here.

Once again, we're not seeing this week's Image releases on Wednesday, but last week's will be here. Tiny week for titles, but a few noteworthy debuts to talk about!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 - Time for Peter Parker to once again shake off the cobwebs of one creator run and hit the reset button for a new one. So we're back to #1, and say hello to Joe Kelly (who technically finished the last run, I guess), Pepe Larraz and John Romita Jr! Expect a run through some classic Spidey villains with a twist, as an unknown, sinister figure is juicing them up to take on Spidey.

  • ADVENTURE TIME (2025) #1 - Speaking of new #1s, we're very happy to see the return of Finn and Jake for new comic adventures! Animator Nick Winn writes and draws the lead story in this new ongoing, and Derek Ballard kicks off a back-up adventure. Looks like we'll be seeing more great animation talent contributing in the future as well. Mathematical!

  • GREAT BRITISH BUMP OFF KILL OR BE QUILT #1 - Speaking of great talent, British Comics Treasure John Allison is back with Max Sarin for a crafty sequel to their hit bake show-themed murder mystery! This time Shauna Wickle is drawn into the cutthroat world of quilting for what promises to be a bump(off)y ride!

  • VATICAN CITY #1 - Mark Millar is back with an all-new series, working with artist Per Berg to create a world of vampiric conquest, where the last remaining survivors of humanity are sheltered behind the walls of the last safe haven: the Vatican. Makes sense, I suppose! But those crafty, craft vamps are always looking for a way to get in...

  • FIRE & ICE WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER #1 - The Justice League veterans return in another mini-series by Joanne Starer & Stephen Byrne. In the wake of Absolute Power, the elementally-charged pals have swapped powers, so although they've made it back into the Justice League, they're still getting to grips with what the new status quo means.

  • I WAS A FASHION SCHOOL SERIAL KILLER #1 - Doug Wagner and Daniel Hillyard, the creators behind Vinyl and Plush, set their sights on a new tale of terror. We're off to fashion school with Rennie Bethary, a young designer who's got some serious skin in the game. Mainly the skin of others, as all her creations are sewn from human flesh.

  • GI JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO BEACH HEAD (ONE-SHOT) - Forget that shiny Skybound stuff: venture back to the world of GI Joe All American Hero for a series of silent one-shots that pay homage to the famous Snake Eyes issue from the original run (which is also available in Facsimile form this week!)

See you next week!

Andrew.
