The Gosh! Authority 10.05.23

Hello!

This Saturday sees UK comics legends Bryan and Mary Talbot in-store to sign their latest collaboration, Armed With Madness, published by Selfmadehero! Bryan and Mary will be here from 1-2pm and you can get all the details here.

And this Wednesday (tomorrow as I type this) is the latest installment of Reads, the graphic novel reading group. This month the topic is Joe Sparrow's new graphic novel Cuckoo. That runs from 7-9pm and everyone is welcome. Details here.

And of course the usual post-bank holiday reminder: the comics will be arriving to go out on the Wednesday. We'd hope to have eveything out for lunchtime, but as last week demonstrated that's not always possible! Give us a shout before heading in.

And speaking of new releases...

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • MURKY WORLD HC - The first in a series of much-anticipated hardcover collections of Richard Corben's work. We're big fans of Corben, so having so much of his old work making its way back into print is hugely exciting. First up: a complete collection (for the first time ever) of his Murky World strips, with additional sketchbook material for good measure.

  • GREEN LANTERN #1 - Jeremy Adams and Xermánico launch a new era for Hal Jordan, now stuck on Earth due to an Oan-imposed quarantine. As well as readjusting to a Terran life, and reconnecting with his loved ones, Hall also has to contend with the threat of noneother than old yeller himself, Sinestro!

  • BATMAN WHITE KNIGHT PRESENTS GENERATION JOKER #1 - Time for another journey back to the White Knight universe, as the twin children of the Joker and Harley Quinn are on the run, intent on resurrecting their dear old dad. White Knight creator Sean Murphy teams up with co-writers Katana Collins and Clay McCormack and artist Mirka Andolfo for this mini.

  • GOTHAM ACADEMY MAPS OF MYSTERY #1 - If you're an old Gotham Academy fan, you may have missed the backup story running in recent issues of Batman. But don't worry, now you can get the whole thing in this one-shot that also includes the shorts from the Saved by the Belle Reve special and Batman Black and White #4. Becky Cloonan, Brenden Fletcher, Karl Kerschl & Jorge Molina are back in school!

  • SILK #1 (OF 5) - Cindy Moon is back in this all new series by Emily Kim & Ig Guara, which promises to take Silk in strange new directions. Case in point this issue: Cindy Moon, LA gumshoe!

  • SOMETHING EPIC #1 - Danny Dillon is an Epic, a person gifted with the ability to see the world of limitless imagination that coexists with our own. But he's just learning to cope with this new gift, and not all imaginations are rainbows and unicorns. Szymon Kudranski writes and draws his new creator-owned series.

  • GHOSTLORE #1 (OF 12) - Sixth Gun creators Cullen Bunn and Leomacs unite for this new series about a pair of accident survivors whose senses are now expanded to see the dead. Constantly. But while they merely listen to the stories of the deceased, there are others with their ability to intend to use it for malicious purposes.

  • SPIRIT WORLD #1 (OF 6) - Out of the pages of Lazarus Planet comes DCs newest supernatural hero, Xanthe. Abe to move between the worlds of the living and the dead, Xanthe teams up with John Constantine to save Cassie Kane from the Sprit World after being abducted by Chinese vampires!

  • MURDER INC JAGGER ROSE #1 (OF 6) - Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming are back with more stories in the world of United States of Murder Inc, where crime families never lost their grip on the reigns of US power. Focusing on new characters, this series is perfect for old fans and new readers alike.

  • EXTREME VENOMVERSE #1 (OF 5) - Marvel's publicity blurb for this begins "RETURN TO THE VENOMVERSE! Face front, Venomaniacs—to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the creation of VENOM, the SUMMER OF SYMBIOTES IS UNDERWAY!", which certainly sounds pretty extreme to me. But it also includes a story by Leonardo Romero which features a Samurai Venom, so maybe I'm being too harsh....

And that's it for this week, Venomaniacs! See you next week, when we return to a normal shipping schedule!

Andrew.
