The Gosh! Authority 10.09.25

Hello!

Stuck trying to get on a bus after work? Why not hang about for a bit until things quieten down and come to one of our THREE events this week!

First up, Reads, the graphic novel reading group, will be doing their annual Small Press Show and Tell evening this Wednesday, 7-9pm. Come along and bring your favourite self-published / micro-published books to chat about with the group, and take advantage of the opportunity to discover something new! Details here.

Then on Thursday, 7-9pm, come celebrate the release of Elon Musk: American Oligarch with creator Darryl Cunningham. The book had a rocky road to publication due to legal fears, so it's nice to see it at last! Details here.

And then on Friday (post-strike, so come on out to celebrate), 7-9pm, we have Ziggy Hanour and Sarah Lippett to celebrate the release of their new graphic novel Everything Amplified! Details here.

And now, onto the comics!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • NOCTURNALS THE SINISTER PATH #1 - The very welcome return of Dan Brereton's Nocturnals, one of my all-time favourite comics of pulpy supernatural action (and a quiet enough week I can justify banging it at the top)! Doc Horror and his monstrous but loveable companions investigate the house of a recently deceased power player in the supernatural world. It goes badly, as you might expect.

  • PUNISHER RED BAND #1 - Others, however, may be more excited to see the return of the Punisher in all his bloody, murderous glory. An amnesiac Frank is back on the streets of NYC, thanks to Benjamin Percy and Julius Ohta, and he's getting his hands very dirty indeed, thanks to that Red Band rating.

  • RED HOOD #1 - A new mature-readers (but in-continuity) Red Hood series from Gretchen Felker-Martin and Jeffrey Spokes, spinning out of the Hush 2 storyline (or "H2sh", as they insist on calling it). He's left Gotham for the city of New Angelique, and Huntress is along for the ride.

  • POWERS 25 #1 - To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's groundbreaking series, the two are back together for a new series with a new generation of superpower-policing detectives.

  • SURVIVE #1 - An American spy and a Russian sailor fight to survive the depths and each other as they slowly sink to the bottom of the ocean in a crippled submarine. A terse, claustrophobic looking thriller from Robert Venditti and Doug Braithwaite.

  • X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE ALPHA #1 - The survivors of the original Age of Apocalypse journey to the current Marvel Universe on a mission to ensure the continue existence of their reality. Jeph Loeb and Simone Di Meo revisit the Age of Apocalypse for its 30th anniversary.

  • UNDEAD IRON FIST #1 - Danny Rand rises from the dead in defiance of the strictures of the Book of the Iron Fist. Who's brought him back, and why? Jason Loo and Fran Galán investigate!

  • IMPERIAL WAR NOVA CENTURIAN #1 - Another Imperial one-shot, this one by Jonathan Hickman, Jed MacKay and Matteo Della Fonte, following Richard Rider as he tries to make a little cash to save the Xandarian Worldmind.

  • MURDER PODCAST #1 - The always criminally underrated David Haun returns with a new series alongside artist Mike Tisserand. A defunct true crime podcast suddenly returns, infecting its listeners with murderous urges, and a group of true crime enthusiasts need to get to the bottom of it before they become the targets.

  • IT KILLED EVERYONE BUT ME #1 - The sole survivor of a 30 year old massacre must face her demons (and maybe dig them up) when a fresh series of killings begins. A supernatural slasher by Ryan Parrott and Letizia Cadonici.

  • C.O.R.T. CHILDREN OF THE ROUND TABLE #1 - A new fantasy-inflected superhero title for younger readers by Tom Taylor and Daniele Di Nicuolo. A group of youngsters are gifted with legendary Arthurian weapons to become the Children of the Round Table. Their mission: stop an ancient evil that threatens the world.

  • BLUE FALCON & DYNOMUTT #1 - The latest gritty Hanna Barbera reinvention from Dynamite, this time taking on HB's Batman analogue, Blue Falcon. Jimmy Palmiotti and Pasquale Qualano bring the action.

And that's it for now! See you next week, when among other things we'll have Deadpool / Batman!

Andrew.
