Two weeks out!

In the mood for a little Christmas comics quiz? The Reads crew have you covered! This week, 7-9pm, we're hosting the Reads Goshmas Festive Quiz! Come on down and test your comics knowledge mettle, all are welcome!

Don't forget our altered hours over the Christmas period, as above. I can also confirm that new comics day over this period will, incredibly, remain on Wednesday as normal! Though do just remember that we'll be closing at 2pm on the 24th and 31st December.

Also happy to report that the titles delayed last week are coming, with the obvious headline being...

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

• GIANT-SIZE CRIMINAL #1 - Yes indeed, an actual Criminal comic book! Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips give us a little hard-boiled Christmas treat in the form of this bumper-sized issue. It kicks off with a Ricky Lawless story, but also has backup features, like a Criminal RPG adventure written by Kieron Gillen, some behind-the-scenes info on the upcoming Criminal TV show, and a complete who's who guide to the Criminal universe. 

• DC K.O. WONDER WOMAN VS LOBO #1 - Joëlle Jones and Jason Howard pit the Amazonian princess against the Last Czarnian in the last all-action K.O. tie-in. Uhh...not sure what else there is to say, really. Let's face it, I'm unlikely to convince you that this is going to be some kind of masterpiece of the form. But Jones and Howard are likely to craft a fun toy-bash, so if that's your thing (it's certainly my thing), then good news! 

• OUR SOOT STAINED HEART #1 - A steampunk series by Joni Hägg and Stipan Morian (artist on 20th Century Men). It's a world of evil overlords and suffering peasants, where a young woman is exiled, and must make a life-changing (and potentially world-changing) journey to make things right.

• DARKNESS #1 - Jackie Estacado is back! Marc Silvestri and Ed Benes relaunch one of the flagship Top Cow titles. Mobster Jackie hosts the Darkness, the evil counterpoint to the Witchblade, and finds himself caught in a war between good and evil that makes day-to-day life rather complicated.

• ORDAINED #1 - A priest takes a death-bed confession of a man who, as it turns out, is a mafia boss guilty of all manner of horrific crimes. Small problem though: the man makes a miraculous recovery, and now sees the priest as a bit of a loose end. The hit is put out, but here's another twist: the priest found religion because of his own violent past, and now those military skills are reluctantly put back into use, with one major change: no killing.

• SHIVER SUSPENSTORIES #1 - A seasonal collection of twisty tales in the classic EC style courtesy of David M. Booher, Melissa Flores, Ben H. Winters, George Northy, Lukas Ketner, Dan McDaid, Sami Kivelä, and Leomacs.

• THE END 2099 #1 - It's the end of the 2099 universe thanks to Steve Orlando and Ibraim Roberson, as the Knull-infused Galactus (the Devourer in Black) approaches. Who can the people turn to? Worry not, for Mephisto is here to save the day, setting up a winner-takes-all battle between the 2099 heroes and the various inhabitants of the Marvel Multiverse. Also....who is Spider-Man 3099?
