The Gosh! Authority 12.02.25

Hello!

the-power-fantasy-600.jpg

This Wednesday, 7-9pm, sees Kieron Gillen and Caspar Wijngaard here to celebrate the release of Power Fantasy TP Vol 01! There will be drinks, book signing, possibly a small speech (or possibly not) and probably a whole bunch of lovely people! Preorders are going fast on the exclusive bookplate we have for the book, so if you did want one, I'd suggest ordering on our website now rather than waiting until Wednesday! Get the details here.

It happily looks like we're getting bang up to speed with Image books this week, and hopefully going forward we'll be back on track with new releases.

And don't forget that our sale ends this Sunday. Still lots of lovely books going out every day, so keep checking back!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM #1 (OF 9) - It's the big Marvel event of 2025, featuring Man of the Moment (Man of Every Moment, let's face it) Victor Von Doom! Turns out giving a meglomaniacal despot the powers of the Sorceror Supreme wasn't such a great idea after all, as Doom resurfaces after 6 months of silence to declare himself emperor of the world. Ryan North & R. B. Silva unleash the tyranny in One World Under Tru---err---DOOM!

  • BUG WARS #1 (OF 6) - Clan Apis, Juice Squeezers, Bughouse....I do strangely love comics with bugs. Small bugs, giant bugs, just love them bugs. So colour me excited for Jason Aaron & Mahmud Asrar's new series which features a young man from Alabama who discovers that his back yard is a fantasy kingdom of bugs and tiny barbarians, one into which he has been unceremoniously thrown. Honestly, this thing is just catnip for me.

  • SEASONS #1 - A horror mystery by the team of Rick Remender and Paul Azaceta (who I'm always pleased to see pop up!) Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter are the daughters of the Seasons detectives, forced to raise themselves after their parents disappeared a decade ago. But after mysterious fates befall her older sisters, Spring has to get her detective hat on to save them. From previews I've seen, there's a lot to look forward to here. It's all set in some kind of strange retrofuturistic world, and for all its horror undertones, there's a bright breeziness to it. Looks like a Remender winner!

  • GREEN LANTERN CORPS #1 - Rolling out of the Fractured Spectrum one-shot, the GLC is back. Jeremy Adams, Morgan Hampton and Fernando Pasarin are in charge of the Lanterns as they take on the Sorrow Lantern, and attempt to foil his plans to create a new Corps of his own. With the likes of John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Jessica Cruz, Guy Gardner, Jo Mullein and more, you can guarantee your favourite Lantern will be somewhere here.

  • MINE IS A LONG LONESOME GRAVE #1 - A slice of Appalachian folk horror in a tall glass of revenge thriller courtesy of Justin Jordan and Chris Shehan. Harley is a bad man, but even he doesn't deserve the fate that awaits him at the end of seven days after he returns home from prison only to discover a hex has been placed on him. A terrible death awaits him unless he can find the perpetrator, and he'll kill whoever it takes to find them.

  • HIVE #1 - Nice try, AJ Lieberman & Mike Henderson, but this crime thriller about a bee-themed criminal organisation called The Hive does not count as an insect book, no matter how much you push the apian metaphor. Still, looks like a rather good story about "worker bees" going rogue, and the deadly response of their "Queen".

  • CAMGIRL #1 - Sarah Cho & C. P. Smith present a one-shot thriller featuring a camgirl, Dani, whose online alter ego attracts potentially deadly attention. But in trying to outwit a stalker, she also must come to terms between the two different women that she has become in her pursuit of money and fame.

  • BLOOD TRAIN #1 - The latest 9th Circle oversized one-shot, this time with Adam Glass and Bernard Chang at the wheel. The Trans-Siberian Express used to be on my travel wishlist back in the free and footloose days before kids and imperialist wars of conquest. I probably wouldn't have been so keen if one of my mates had been infected with a bioweapon, transforming them into a monstrous killing machine aimed at the heart of Europe. That is the situation for the poor souls aboard the train in this little ditty. Bummer.

  • LENORE THE TIME WAR #1 - The return of Roman Dirge's cute little dead girl, with the kind of surreal, absurdist adventure that made her such an influential character in the early 2000's. This time around, Lenoe and friend's must take on a vengeful trip of Time Goats.

large-1269714.jpg

  • EDDIE BROCK CARNAGE #1 - Eddie Brock takes on the Carnage symbiote, with Charles Soule & Jesús Saíz putting poor old Eddie through the wringer again. Homestly, at this point maybe he should just try being single for a while.

  • MARVEL MUTTS #1 - The popular digital series featuring Marvel's most slobbery pets gets a one-shot collection. MacKenzie Cadenhead & Takeshi Miyazawa put the pets in peril.

And with that, I'm off!
