The Gosh! Authority 16.03.22

Hello!

So the charity edition of JLA Avengers TP came out in the States this week and as expected, heavy allocations have taken place. UK stores will be receiving their copies on the 30th March, and I can confirm that we will be receiving a small number. The beneficiary of sales on this edition is the Hero Initiative, a US-based charity that provides financial assistance to comics creators in need (which there is no shortage of in the freelance world of comics), and in the spirit of the project we will be raffling or auctioning (still deciding which) off copies of the book, with all proceeds going to the Hero Initiative. More details to come soon, and we'll doing this once we actually have the books in hand, so look out for an announcement on the 30th.

Titchy week for new releases, but the top-biller is a good 'un.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLD’S FINEST #1 - Mark Waid and Dan Mora are a creative team to make my ears prick up. and so it is with this new incarnation of World's Finest. Set in the recent past of the DCU, Superman enlists the aid of Batman (who in turn ropes in Doom Patrol) in what promises to be a lead-in to the upcoming Dark Crisis event. You can't get much more of a solid superhero writer than Mark Waid, who is a perfect pairing with the slick dynamism of Dan Mora. Looking forward to it!

  • RECKONING WAR TRIAL OF THE WATCHER #1 - Uatu faces the music in this one shot that forces him to face the one alternate reality he never wanted. What If the Watcher Never Intervened? Well, that cover certainly gives a pretty good indication of where things are going to go. Dan Slott teams with the ever-reliable Javier Rodriguez for this Reckoning War one-shot.

  • CARNAGE #1 - An all-new era for Cletus Kasady's former symbiote pal courtesy of Ram V & Francesco Manna. Separated from Kasady, the Carnage symbiote is looking for a new bond with whom he can unleash his twisted killer instincts. Sounds like V and Manna are going down the horror route on this one, which makes total sense for the character.

  • SLUMBER #1 - A new series from Tyler Burton Smith, writer of cult film Kung Fury, and artist Vanessa Cardinali. Stetson hunts nightmares for a living, entering people's sleeping minds to help give them a restful night by killing the things which terrify them. All fine and good, until she comes across a nightmare that's killing people in their sleep, uncovering the work of a serial killer that has some connection to her past. Sounds like a promising pitch.

And that's about it! See you next time, folks.

Andrew.
