The Gosh! Authority 18.02.26

Hello!

romo-600-edit.jpg

This Thursday, 7-9pm, we'll have our old pal ILYA here to celebrate the launch of his new graphic novel from SelfMadeHero, Romo the Wolf Boy! Come on down for a tipple and a chat and pick yourself up a copy! Details here.

Then on Saturday, 1-2pm, we have another old friend popping by: Roger Langridge will be here to sign copies of Muppets Noir #1, his triumphant return to Jim Henson's beloved creations. Details here.

Not only that, but that'll also be when we release our second Gosh! anniversary print, Splendidman! Roger's art has long graced our paper bags, so we thought it only appropriate that we commit it to a print as a part of our 40th celebration. You can order a copy here.

Thanks to everyone who came down for our big Batman day on Sunday! It was a pretty hectic day, but everyone was very well behaved and considerate of one another, which made it so much easier for us. If you missed it, never fear: our walls downstairs are still fully lined with wonderful Gold and Silver Age copies of Batman and Detective Comics, and you'll see plenty of Batman-related stock filtered out through the store in the months to come.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • MUPPETS NOIR #1 - We couldn't be more excited about Roger Langridge's return to the Muppets. His criminally unavailable run with Marvel was an absolutely note-perfect capture of what makes the Muppets so special, with all its madcap, pun-filled mayhem. This time around, Kermit gets a knock to the head and is laid out cold, setting up a noirish dream world where he casts himself as the hard-boiled hero on the case of the Snoozing Sleuth.

  • END OF LIFE #1 - The second book out the gate for the new Vertigo line-up, and we're going down the route of an action-packed crime comedy by Kyle Starks and Steve Pugh. Our lead is Eddie Stallion, a hitman on the run who makes for his childhood home, a small Midwestern town called Pluto. There he has to contend with his estranged, dying father, a local crime boss, assassins on his trail, and his childhood sweetheart. Probably should have gone somewhere else.

  • WOLVERINE WEAPONS OF ARMAGEDDON #1 - Chip Zdarsky continues the build-up to his summer event, Armageddon, with this mini that runs alongside his Captain America run. He's joined by artist Luca Maresca for a story that sees Wolverine come up against a corporation that has resurrected the Weapon X methodology to create a new generation of super soldiers.

  • DEATH FIGHT FOREVER #1 - What a creative team! Andrew Maclean writes and Alex Ziritt draws, so you know there's some creative lunacy ahead. It's like a fever dream of 80s direct-to-video sci-fi action movies as brothers Crash and Bash Biggle team up with Commander Thunderfang to take on the minions of crime boss Lord Slyther and his minion Marla Mendoza. But tragedy and unexpected twists await!

  • BLACK PANTHER 60TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL #1 -  A bumper anthology of stories celebrating the 60th birthday of T'Challa, including work by Christopher Priest (hurrah!), Cody Ziglar, Evan Narcisse, Murewa Ayodele, Alitha Martinez, Eder Messias and Javier Pina.

  • GENERATION X-23 #1 - Jody Houser and Jacopo Camagni pick up with Laura and Gabby Kinney and friends as they meet up with an old friend who brings a world of trouble down on them. Another generation of X-subjects await!

  • WHITE SKY #1 - William Harms and Jean Paul Mavinga are the creators of this tale of a supernatural post-apocalypse. The sun has turned white and the world has been overrun with ghosts. A man and his daughter struggle to survive in this deadly new reality.

  • FLORIDA HIPPOPOTAMUS COCAINE MASSACRE #1 - Where do I start? Disco Hippo Wonderland, the popular Florida hippo amusement park? Jans M’jor Discau, the park boss / drug lord? Clarke Nebraska, the agent looking to take Discau down? Tico Senecoza, the compromised, captured undercover agent? Miquel Senecoza, the older brother on a gun-toting rescue mission?  No, I should probably start with the cocaine-fueled hippo rampage that Discau unleashes when things get hairy. Total mayhem from Fred Kennedy and James Edward Clark.

  • SMILE FOR THE CAMERA #1 - A spin-off of the Smile films by Hannah Rose May and Miriana Puglia, set in the fashion world in 2005. Five young models arrive in New York for the greatest opportunity of their careers, but one of them is about to turn their dream into a nightmare.

  • DEADLY HANDS OF K'UN LUN #1 - It's a Marvel martial arts team-up, as Yifan Jiang and Paco Medina bring together Iron Fist, White Tiger, White Fox and Pei. The group must fight together to save the legacy of the Seven Heavenly Cities from an army of demons.

And that's it! Happy half-term, folks!

Andrew.
