Another quick reminder that our Free Comic Book Day celebrations will be happening on the 28th August! No big events this year we're afraid, but we will be giving away grab bags of 5 comics to adults with a purchase, and grab bags of 3 comics to all kids who come in through the day (while stocks last). We hope to see you on the day!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

• DID YOU HEAR WHAT EDDIE GEIN DONE? HC - A big oversight from last week's list, so I'll lead with it here. Crime writer Harold Schechter and Goon creator Eric Powell's new true crime graphic novel delves into the life and crimes of serial killer Ed Gein. Possibly one of the most notorious (and earliest identified) serial killers in US history, Gein served as inspiration for such fictional killers as Psycho's Norman Bates, Silence of the Lambs' Buffalo Bill and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Leatherface. 

• SENSOR HC - A new full-length graphic novel from master mangaka Junji Ito, Sensor is grand-scale cosmic horror. It sounds quite interesting, as Ito experimented with working from the most basic of outlines and largely improvising the story as he went. Expected the unexpected! 

• KANG THE CONQUEROR #1 - Discover the secret origin of the time-hopping villain who - by total coincidence I assure you - looks set to dominate the next phase of the MCU as the new looming threat. The writing team of Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly are joined by artists Carlos Magno and Espen Grundetjern.

• X-MEN THE TRIAL OF MAGNETO #1 - In the wake of the Hellfire Gala, justice must be done for the death of the Scarlet Witch. X-Factor are on the case, trying to track down the guilty party. Is the titles a massive spoiler? I'll be honest, the more I'm reading about it, the more it seems like the word "Trial" might not refer to Magneto in the dock. One way or another, this mini-series promises to undermine the supposed utopia the mutants have made. Leah Williams and Lucas Werneck are on it!

• GOD OF TREMORS #1 - Peter Milligan is on a tear right now, producing some of the best work he's done in years. Now he's getting his folk horror on with artist Piotr Kowalski as a young man with epilepsy, accused of being touched by the devil, is banished to the family estate. He soon discovers pagan horrors that surpass his own supposed devilish nature.

• KILLER QUEENS #1 - David M Booher and Claudia Balboni present the ultimate in comics about gay intergalactic assassins fighting space fascists. Max and Alex are just trying to make ends meet while on the run from their former boss - a monkey with a jetpack. 

• EAT THE RICH #1 - Sarah Gailey and Pius Bak delve into the dark heart of rich folk in this new horror series. A young woman heads back to her perfect boyfriend's perfect home town to meet his perfect family, who - you may be shocked to learn - aren't quite as perfect as they seem. Bloody horror with a shot of social satire awaits!

• MMW THE X-MEN GN TP VOL 01 - The latest of Marvel's softcover Masterworks reissues, featuring the earliest Stan & Jack tales of Marvel's Merry Mutants, and available with the lovely Michael Cho cover above, or the classic Kirby X-Men #1 cover.
