The Gosh! Authority 21.05.25

Hello!

wicdiv-compendium-600-edit.jpg

No events coming this week, but we did have a late addition to our upcoming slate you may have missed: the dynamic duo of Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie will be here on Friday 30th May, 7-9pm, to celebrate the release of the Wicked & Divine Compendium! One of our all-time faves, bundled up into one massive volume and we've even got a Gosh! exclusive bookplate for it featuring all-new art by Jamie! Get the details here.

Bank holiday this weekend, so aside from sunning yourselves in the garden on Monday (fingers crossed), prepare for a slightly late delivery next week. As usual, books will be arriving to go out on Wednesday, so unlikely to be out on shelves before lunch. Give us a shout before coming down!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • SUPERMAN UNLIMITED #1 - Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque come to the Man of Steel with this new ongoing, a part of DC's "Summer of Superman". Speaking of which, did you see that latest trailer for the new film? Colour me excited. Anyway, it all kicks off with Superman on course to tackle an asteroid on a collision course with Earth. An asteroid that has a rather unwelcome surprise at its heart.

  • SPIDER-MAN & WOLVERINE #1 - Marc Guggenheim & Kaare Andrews team up for an OTT collision of webs and claws in this mini that'll take them from the streets of Manhattan to the jungles of the Savage Land. This looks like fun in the best kind of 90's wall-to-wall action way: a splash of crazy, kinetic art; a pinch of dubious motivations for heroes to fight each other; and a healthy dollop of unashamed silliness.

  • SLEEP #1 - Always happy to rep a new Zander Cannon book (Replacement God fans represent!), but he's not someone I naturally think of as a horror author. Happy to go alonjg for the ride, though, as he's never let me down before. What is the secret behind Jonathan Reason's nocturnal outings that leave him waking covered in the blood of others? And if he can figure it out, what steps will he take to prevent it?

  • THE THING #1 - Ben Grimm goes rogue to find out why a childhood tormentor has returned to make his life hell once again. Standing in his way is a rogue's gallery of crooks, all out to claim a bounty on his rocky scalp. A fun looking mini from Tony Fleecs & Justin Mason, part of what will no doubt be a Summer offensive of FF titles as the movie draws near.

    • ROBO WOLF #1 - Time for some all-in action comics. Robo Wolf and his bank robbing pals are trying to rescue RW's kidnapped daughter from the clutches of Colonel Massacre, dodging ninjas and cyborgs along the way. You get the drift: a gonzo adventure that harkens back to the crazy indie comics of the 80s.

    • WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE CRIMSON JUSTICE #1 - Crimson Justice, heroic defender of Empire City, and his nemesis Dr Mayhem disappeared decades ago, apparently lost in a fire during their final battle. But now Dr Mayhem is back, and it's up to CJ's former sidekick, Reddy, to figure out what the hell is going on. This one's from Frank Tieri and Inaki Miranda.

    • HULK & DOCTOR STRANGE #1 - The next of J.M. Straczynski's Marvel team-ups, this time with Germán Peralta on art duties as the good Doctor delves into the psyche of Bruce Banner. Plus Aunt May teams with Agatha Harkness!

    • VISION & THE SCARLET WITCH #1 - PSA: Steve Orlando's Scarlet Witch run continues with another title change! Artist Lorenzo Tammetta is along for the ride.

And that's it for another week! Until next time, pals!

    Andrew.
