The Gosh! Authority 21.10.20

Hello!

Hope you're all keeping well this Halloween season. Sorry to relentlessly bang this drum, but obviously with tighter restrictions coming in across the London region, many of you will not be making the journey into town any time soon. Totally understandable, but it'd be great if any standing order customers among you could make sure to clear your box at least once a month either in person or by contacting us to arrange a mail order. Also, do please think of us when shopping online for your graphic novel needs: goshlondon.com. We'll be adding a selection of Christmas books as well as our Best of the Year 2020 lists very soon!

Not much else to report this week. Everything looks like it's shipping on time, so we'll have this little bunch of highlights to look forward to on Wednesday (in addition to a 2nd printing of Al Ewing & Simone de Meo's sellout hit We Only Find Them When They're Dead #1, if you missed out first time around):

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • SCUMBAG #1 - A new ongoing series from Rick Remender and a changing roster of artists. It's a comedy-espionage story about Ray Clementine, a down-and-out nobody who accidentally gains extra-normal powers and is forced into the role of world-saving super-spy. Remender, someone who always has a great eye for artists, has lined up an impressive array of talent who will take turns working on an issue each. So far we're looking at Lewis Larosa (in this issue), Andrew Robinson, Eric Powell, Tula Lotay, Wes Craig, Roland Boschi, Simone Di Meo, Marguerite Sauvage, Duncan Fegredo, Yanick Paquette, Mike Mckone, Dave Johnson & Moreno Dinisio, and more coming up!

  • DUNE HOUSE ATREIDES #1 - A prequel to the Hugo & Nebula-award winning classic novel, written by Frank Herbert's son Brian, along with co-writer Kevin J. Anderson and artist Dev Pramanik. It's actually an adaptation itself of Herbert & Anderson's 1999 novel of the same name. Grand space opera at its finest. Now if only they could find some way to re-release Ralph Macchio & Bill Sienkiewicz's comics adaptation of the David Lynch Dune adaptation. Lovely stuff.

  • TWINS GN VOL 01 - A new middle-grade GN by Varian Johnson & Shannon Wright. This is one of the most-anticipated kids graphic novels of the year, and early critical word is extremely positive. It's the story of Maureen and Francine, two inseperable twin sisters who begin to grow apart as Francine suddenly begins to reinvent herself.

  • DEATH METAL ROBIN KING #1 - The villain that lit up eBay with his first appearance in Dark Nights: Death Metal: Legends Of Dark Knights #1 gets his own one-shot as he gets in on the Apocalyptic action. Peter J Tomasi and Tony Patrick are on writing duties, with the brilliant Riley Rossmo drawing the main feature and Daniel Sampere on a back-up.

  • BATMAN ANIMATED SERIES PHANTOM CREATIVE COLLECTION HC - A tribute to the classic animated series collated by Mondo, featuring work from the Phantom Collective Inc artist Justin Erickson. It's a beautifully designed book with some amazing interpretations of the iconic show. Cough cough perfectChristmasgift....

  • BATMAN WHITE KNIGHT PRESENTS HARLEY QUINN #1 - Sean Murphy & Katana Collins write an all-new adventure set in Murphy's White Knight world focusing on Harley Quinn as she struggles to raise her children while dealing with the ghosts of her past. Murphy isn't on art duties for the 6-issue mini, but they've got Matteo Scalera in instead, who is a more than acceptable replacement!

  • KING TANK GIRL #1 (OF 5) - Tank Girl finds a new home with Eric Powell's Albatross Funnybooks in this series by Alan Martin and Brett Parson. It's a blast from the past, as they serve up stories set in TG's early years.

  • CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA PRESENTS MADAM SATAN ONE SHOT - Eliot Rahal & Julius Ohta spin a yarn about Sabrina's nemesis, who has decided she's sick of playing second fiddle to the Devil. Always happy to see a dip back into the Sabrina-verse? Is that what we call it? Dark Sabrina-verse? I dunno, just buy the comic!

  • WEREWOLF BY NIGHT #1 (OF 4) - Taboo (of Black-Eyed Peas fame), Benjamin Jackendoff & Scott Eaton introduce an all-new Werewolf by Night, incorporating elements of Native American mythology to give create a whole new take on Marvel's wolfman.

And that's that! See you next week!
