The Gosh! Authority 23.12.20
Hello from the heart of Tier 4!
Yup, as you're probably aware, a large swathe of the South East is now under Tier 4 restrictions (in effect the same as the lockdown we had in November). This means our store is closed for at least the next two weeks. That being said, someone will be on-site over that period from Monday-Friday, 9.30am - 5pm (aside from the 25th, 26th and 1st), so you can support us (and get your fix of comics) in the following way:
Buy from our webstore: goshlondon.com. We'll still be shipping orders out every day and carry nearly all of our GN & TPB stock in our online shop.
Call to arrange a mail out of your standing order. Comics will still be shipping this week, and then weekly again from the 6th January, and will be getting filed for standing order customers. Clearing your standing order will help us a lot in getting the bills paid.
Shop for books via https://uk.bookshop.org/shop/goshlondon. Do make goshlondon.com your first stop for graphic novels, but if you can't find it there, or want to order anything else, from coobooks to potboiler thrillers, do it via our bookshop.org launch page and we'll get a revenue share on the sale.
If you're ordering from the webstore or wanting your standing order, you can also arrange to collect at the door if - and we can't emphasize this enough - you are able to travel safely into the store. Call or email in advance to arrange this.
It's tough times, but we've been here before and are better equipped to handle it each time. Every little bit of support we get means a lot, so thanks to you all for helping us pull through.
But never mind all that, let's talk about some comics. God knows I could do with some decent reading material over the Christmas period. Pretty thin this week, but one must-read for me!
HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
- SEEDS TP - Anne Nocenti and David Aja's ET eco-thriller is complete at last! As with all the Berger Books line, the former mini-series is now being completed as a graphic novel. Bit of a pain if you bought the first two issues a couple years back, but that David Aja artwork is certainly a strong argument to pick it up despite the duplication. It's a love story at the end of the world done in Nocenti's characteristically unique style.
- PICTURE OF EVERYTHING ELSE #1 - Up and coming writer Dan Watters (whose Home Sick Pilots proved a hit a couple of weeks back) is at it again with a new series from Vault, with art by Kishore Mohan. It's a horror tale set at the beginning of the 20th century featuring the man who formerly painted the picture of Dorian Gray. Now he has new, darker works in mind. Always be innovating, right?
- KING-SIZE CONAN #1 - It's a heapin' helpin' of bloody babarbarian action in this oversized one-shot featuring a big line-up of talent. Roy Thomas (with a prelude story to his classic Conan The Barbarian #1), Kurt Busiek, Chris Claremont, Kevin Eastman, Steven S. DeKnight, Steve McNiven, Pete Woods, Roberto de la Torre & Jesus Saiz all contribute. Crom!
- GLOOMHAVEN FALLEN LION ONESHOT - A one-off comic exploring the world of the wildly popular (and wildly expensive) board game, as notable for the depth of its lore as the complexity of its mechanics. A group of adventurers, The Jaws of the Lion, are at the top of their game when their latest job goes sideways thanks to one of their members.
- DARK NIGHTS DEATH METAL SECRET ORIGIN #1 - Geoff Johns and Scott Snyder are at the reins of this one-shot digging into the past of the DC Universe against the backdrop of Superboy Prime and the Darkest Batman tussling. Jerry Ordway, Ryan Benjamin, Paul Pelletier & Francis Manapul handle the heavy pencil lifting.
And that, incredibly, is that!
Have a safe and happy Christmas, everyone. I know it's not what we would have hoped, but it's certainly what we got, so I hope you can all make something decent of it. If nothing else, just find a cosy spot and re-read some great comics.
No new comics next week, so I'll probably see you in the new year. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
Andrew.
