HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

• JOHN CONSTANTINE HELLBLAZER DEAD IN AMERICA #1 - The very welcome return of Si Spurrier and Aaron Campbell's John Constantine, whose truncated run from 2019 - 2021 was much loved and has been much missed. Constantine is on the run in the USA, with friend Noah and his son in tow. He's also racing against the clock, as his body is decaying after another recent brush with death. His way out? Turns out Dream himself needs some help with a sand-stealing culprit.

• GHOST MACHINE #1 - The kick-off of Geoff Johns' new shared universe Image imprint! This one-shot highlights the characters and creators who are going to be a part of the project, including Johns, Peter J. Tomasi, Ivan Reis, Francis Manapul, Bryan Hitch, Gary Frank, Jason Fabok and Lamont Magee. Expect all kinds of stories from throughout the history of the Geiger universe (and some very pretty pictures!)

• RESURRECTION OF MAGNETO #1 - Spinning out of X-Men Red, with mutantdom on the ropes, Storm sets out to find Magneto, discovering he is trapped in a mysterious realm between life and death. Regular XMR scribe Al Ewing and artist Luciano Vecchio handkle this four issue mini.

• CRASHDOWN #1 - Big time Youtubers Tom Garcia and Ryan Sargeant team up with artist Ben Templesmith for this three-part slice of sci-fi horror. In the far future, the survivors of a dead Earth find a new home in the planet Empyrean. But the planet holds as much horror as it does hope. Templesmith and horror are a good mix. Worth giving this a look.

• BRUCE DICKINSON'S THE MANDRAKE PROJECT #1 - Iron Maiden lead singer Bruce Dickinson teams with writer Tony Lee and artist Staz Johnson to bring to life the big concepts behind his upcoming solo album The Mandrake Project. Not some dilettante's project this: it's a 12-issue quarterly series! Time for old metalheads of the world (aka me) to get excited!

• POWER PACK INTO THE STORM #1 - One of the "let's revisit the 80's" gang of Marvel titles, but with one difference: this one is actually done by the original creative team in full. Louise Jones Simonson and June Brigman tell a tale of the early days of the Powers kids, and I'm here for it. I can still remember picking up the first issue off the rack in the bookstore of the Kena Kena Beach shops. Ahhh...sweet, sweet nostal---damn, they got me!

• DEER EDITOR #1 - An anthropomorphic crime noir featuring murder, corruption, mysterious locales, and a deer reporter named "Bucky". Kinda like True Detective with more antlers.
