The Gosh! Authority 24.04.25

Hello!

paranoid-gardens-600-edit.jpg

Shake off those post-Easter blues with a killer duo of events this week featuring legendary UK comics talent! First up this Friday, 6-7pm, we have Chris Weston here to sign the collection of Paranoid Gardens, his collaboration with Gerard Way and Shaun Simon that feels like a lost Vertigo classic from the mid 90s. Details here.

Then we've got an incredible 2000AD double-signing on Saturday, 1-2pm, for the collected Spector and the first Slaine Definitive Edition. A event so momentous it needs two posters: Dan Cornwall, Mick McMahon and John Wagner will all be here. Talk about thrillpower! Details here.

And of course, we're just over two weeks out from Free Comic Book Day. Bang it in your diary!

Don't forget, due to Easter weekend the new comics will be arriving to go out on THURSDAY this week. We'd hope to have them on the shelves by lunchtime, couriers be good.

It's an Easter miracle! Last week AND this week's Image titles are here!

Good job there's some great events to talk about, because the comics to talk about are pretty thin on the ground this week. Hold your hats, this shouldn't take long!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • PREDATOR VS SPIDER-MAN #1 - Benjamin Percy, Marvel's go-to Predator guy, teams up with Marcelo Ferreira for what feels like a decent urban Predator setup. As Manhattan swelters in a heatwave, Spidey is being hunted by a Predator who has none of the honourable restraints of his mandibled buddies.

  • MOONSHINE BIGFOOT #1 - Imagine the Dukes of Hazzard, but instead of Beau and Luke Duke, our hero is a moonshine-brewing Bigfoot and his human girlfriend. And instead of Boss Hogg and the dimwitted Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane, our heroes are on the run through the backwoods from high-tech Illuminati-types sporting nasty sci-fi weaponry. Welcome to Moonshine Bigfoot, from Zach Howard, Mike Marlow and Steve Ellis!

  • ARCANA ROYALE #1 - Horror comics empresario Cullen Bunn teams up with artist A. C. Zamudio for a dive into the magical world of poker. And when we say "magical" we mean that quite literally, as our protagonist finds herself ante-ing up in a tournament that decides the fates of worlds, including our own.

  • MEDIEVAL SPAWN #1 - Rory McConville and Marco Itri go all-in on the dark fantasy vibe as they tell the story of the most armour-y of Spawns. Wizards and dragons, oh my!

And that, my friends, is that! Plenty of other regular goodies to keep you busy though (including Absolute Martian Manhunter #2!), so swing on by!

Andrew.
