Okay...on with the comics!
HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

- PERIL OF THE BRUTAL DARK: AN EZRA CAIN MYSTERY #1 - Next out the Vertigo gate is Chris Condon and Jacob Phillips' new supernatural crime thriller! Think Indiana Jones meets Phillip Marlowe, as 1940's NYC PI Ezra Cain finds himself embroiled with a cult that is attemping to harness the power of an anvil that supposedly belonged to the Greek god Hephaestus.

- AMAZING SPIDER-MAN & VENOM: DEATH SPIRAL #1 - The Spidey/Venom crossover starts here, with a spiral-faced serial killer on the loose. But, shock horror, does this crazed killer have something to do with the symbiotes? And who is it? Charles Soule, Al Ewing, Joe Kelly and Jesús Saíz collaborate on this one.

- PUNISHER #1 - No fancy imprints or change-ups here, just a good old, in-continuity, meat and potatoes Punisher series, written by Marvel's go-to guy for gritty action, Benjamin Percy, and drawn by José Luis Soares Pinto. Frank is suffering from partial amnesia, and Jigsaw is hot on his trail.

- UNIVERSAL MONSTERS THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA #1 - The next adaptation of the Universal classics, this one by Tyler Boss and Martin Simmonds (who did such a great job with Dracula.) As usual the story is both familiar and new, adding some extra twists and turns in the old story.

- NEW HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE: THE DAKOTA INCIDENT #1 - The New History returns for a one-shot special that lays out the inciting incident for the new Milestone Universe of characters. Featuring Static, Rocket, Icon, Hardware, and more, by a whole host of talent including Morgan Hampton, Joseph Illidge, Nikolas Draper-Ivey, Stephanie Williams, Edwin Galmon, Valentine De Landro, Fico Ossio, Stephen Segovia, and Carlo Pagulayan.

- ROCKETEER: THE ISLAND #1 - Dave Stevens' beloved character returns for a new mini by John Layman and Jacob Edgar, based on a story idea by Stevens himself. It's 1938, and a search for the missing Amelia Earhart leads Cliff to the island that Betty ran off to with photographer Marco. Mystery and drama, what more could you ask for?

- IS TED OK? #1 - A mind-bending thriller written and drawn by Dave Chisholm. Ted works for a trillionaire and is falling apart. Sarah was hired to spy on Ted, and feels she has to intervene to help him. Bad things ensue.
And that's it for another week, my friends! See you soon!
Andrew.
