The Gosh! Authority 26.02.25
Hello!
No events this week, but Previews is here so toilet reading is sorted for the weekend! Heck, even the Marvel and DC catalogues have both shipped as well.
HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
- MANSECT GN - The latest collection from Living the Line of the late, great horror manga-ka Koga Shinichi. Originally published in 1975, this tale of humans transforming into weird insect creatures is just the kind of gonzo body horror you'd expect from Koga. Like most horror manga from this era, there's a weird meld of retro kitsch and all-out, unironic creepiness.
- RED HULK #1 - Just in time for the Captain America film that the world is going crazy about feeling fairly uninspired by! Benjamin Percy and Geoff Shaw bring Thuderbolt Ross into One World Under Doom, along with special guest stars Machine Man and Deathlok. Ross and other brilliant strategic minds are taken prisoner by Doom, bent to serving his will for global rule. Prison break time!
- CAPTAIN AMERICA & VOLSTAGG #1 - The second of J. M. Straczynski's oddball team-up one-shots, with JMS dipping back into the Asgardian world for Thor's biggest buddy, who recruits Steve Rogers for a peacekeeping job. Bernard Chang joins the Strac-Man (as he no doubt loves to be known) on art for a fun one-off.
- WOMEN OF MARVEL SHE-DEVILS #1 - Alison Sampson, Cherie Dimaline, Stephanie Phillips, Federica Muzzo and Kelsey Ramsay unite for a one-shot anthology starring some of Marvel's street-level heroines. Nary a Captain Marvel in sight, as the likes of Laura Kinney, Elektra and Shanna deliver some low-powered beatdowns.
- JUMPSCARE #1 - Cullen Bunn and Danny Luckert return to their horror superhero mash-up universe first introduced in Beyond Mortal. Jumpscare is a young hero with the ability to conjure weapons from any horror movie she's seen, weapons she's happy to use in very bloody ways as she carves through the horror her world has become.
- GODZILLA VS AMERICA CHICAGO #1 - The big green lizard hit the US over series of anthology one-shots that feature stories by creators from the very cities that are being hit. The poor denizens of Chicago include Mike Costa, Ezra Claytan Daniels, Tim Seeley, Ryan Browne and Caroline Cash.
And that little lot is it!
