The Gosh! Authority 26.07.23

Hello!

We're hiring! Yes, after 4 years with us Cami is moving on to new pastures, which means we have a vacancy for a retail assistant. Check out this link for all the details, and if you know anyone who might be keen to apply then please do share with them. Applications are open until 9th August.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • BIG GAME #1 - Millarworlds collide! Mark Millar teams up with the superb Pepe Larraz for a mini-series that brings together all of his various characters, from Kick-Ass to Nemesis and everyone in-between. Perfect for Millar's knack for Big Moment writing.

  • RIBBON QUEEN #1 - A new horror series from Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows which introduces the Ribbon Queen: an ancient force for vengeance that has been unleashed in modern day New York City. An NYPD detective investigating a homicide deals with police corruption and supernatural brutality, while presuambly not managing a great work-life balance. Ennis and Burrows are the creators of Crossed, so expect no punches to be pulled.

  • SUPERMAN THE LAST DAYS OF LEX LUTHOR #1 - Mark Waid and Bryan Hitch get to the heart of what makes Superman tick in a series that sees the Man of Steel racing against time to save the life of his arch-enemy. Lex Luthor is dying from unnatual causes and asks Supes to save him. Cue a frantic dash to the ends of the universe and beyond. Waid and Hitch are proper superhero guys, capable of big action and intimate character moments. This should be a treat.

  • X-MEN HELLFIRE GALA #1 - Get your glad rags on for the annual mutant ball, where drama will no doubt unfold, and a new team of X-Men will be elected. Or will they? Because this may be the last Hellfire Gala, as the Fall of X begins. Gerry Duggan draws the curtain on the Krakoan Age, with a massive line-up of X-artists including Adam Kubert, R.B. Silva, Matteo Lolli, Javier Pina, Valerio Schiti, Kris Anka, Pepe Larraz, Russell Dauterman, Luciano Vecchio & Joshua Cassara.

  • MEGA CITY MAX #1 - An anthology of YA tales set on the streets of Mega-City One, with all it's madness in full effect. Designed as a jump-on for teen audiences, the book contains stories by Oliver Gerlach, Ramzee, Roger Langridge, Lucie Ebrey, Hannah Templer, V. V. Glass & Korinna Mei Veropoulou.

  • BRZRKR POETRY OF MADNESS #1 - Keanu Reeves' comics alter-ego returns for a one-shot co-written and drawn by the amazing Steve Skroce (who Reeves knows all too well from the Matrix days). Expect crazed ultraviolence in an Atlantis at the precipice of Lovecraftian destruction.

  • WHAT IF DARK SPIDER-GWEN #1 - Remember that fateful day on the Brooklyn Bridge when Peter Parker died saving Gwen Stacy? No? But...What If.....?

  • SCRAPPER #1 - Alex de Campi, Cliff Bleszinksi and Sandy Jarrell collaborate on this future pooch tale. In a Blade Runner-esque post-apocalyptic city, two canine heroes take on a totalitarian government in the name of justice. Good boys!

  • IMPACT WINTER: ROOK #1 - A prequel to the hit Audible audio drama, enjoyable on its own terms. Set in the same world (where a comet strike has blotted out the sun and unleashed a plague of vampires), but way back in Roman-occupied Britain, it sounds like this series lets us in on where all these vamps came from. Written by the series creator Travis Beacham, with art by Andrea Milana.

  • PURR EVIL #1 - Mirka Andolfo and Laura Braga team up for a supernatural mini about a mother and a daughter who bond over their shared connection to an ancient feline evil.

  • KNIGHT TERRORS! - It's the final week of Knight Terrors first issues, including Shadow War alumni Angel Breaker, who is after the dream-controlling powers of Doctor Dee. Nice to get a little villainous action in there! As usual, here's a parade of covers for you:

  • KNIGHT TERRORS ACTION COMICS #1

  • KNIGHT TERRORS ANGEL BREAKER #1

  • KNIGHT TERRORS DETECTIVE COMICS #1

  • KNIGHT TERRORS HARLEY QUINN #1

  • KNIGHT TERRORS TITANS #1

And with that I bid thee farewell!

Andrew.
