The Gosh! Authority 26.08.20

Hello!

Quick note to say thank you to everyone who is complying with the government requirement to wear masks in-store (unless exempt). It helps to keep us all safeguarded and open for business. We had three staff infected with COVID-19 in the early days of the pandemic, so we know that it's no joke. And trust me, as much as it's a bit of a pain to don a mask to enter the store, it's not much fun having to wear one all day and continually have to ask other people to do so either!

Good news for you back issue fans out there: from next week we'll be starting to restock our back issue selection for the first time in awhile as we welcome Luke from back off of furlough. Regular back issues and our silver and bronze age selections will all be getting some much-needed attention!

No real news this week. It's a previews week with plenty of stuff in, but not a lot of new titles to mention here. Check out the In Store post for a full listing. What new stuff is there, you say? Let me tell ya...

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • BATMAN THREE JOKERS #1 (OF 3) - A mystery that was hinted at way, waaay back in the pages of DC Rebirth #1 is answered at last: why did the Mobius Chair tell Batman that there were three Jokers? Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok team up for a mini-series that explains it all (hopefully). Of course the even bigger question we get asked is: are you getting all the limited edition covers? And the answer is no, because the qualifying procedure would require us to order far in excess of what we actually need. But what I can tell you is that we have the regular cover, the Jason Fabok variant, and the Joker Fish premium (seen above). Let us know if you have a preference if you'd like to order it, and we'll be copying orders onto Batman subs, so give us a shout if you get Bats, but don't want this. Oh, and we don't have any limited edition variants available to pre-order, sorry! Going forward, we'll be getting one of the premium covers on each subsequent issue, probably the Death in the Family variant for #2 and the Killing Joke variant for #3. Just to help you plan if you're looking for all covers!

  • JOKER KILLER SMILE HC - Read any comics about the Joker lately? Well, this one is worth your while, as the Gideon Falls team of Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino craft a psychological horror featuring everyone's favourite grinning ghoul. This collection includes the full mini-series plus the Smile Killer one-shot, and is well worth cracking into.

  • LOCKE & KEY IN PALE BATTALIONS GO #1 - Hot (-ish) on the heels of the hit Netflix adaptation, the real Locke and Key deal (with proper horror intact) is back for an all-new 2-part story by creators Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez. It's set during the darkest days of World War I, where an attempt to use the power of the keys in order to turn the tide of battle will no doubt end really well.

  • FANTASTIC FOUR ANTITHESIS #1 (OF 4) - Neal Adams puts pencil to page in (incredibly) his first ever full-length Fantastic Four story. Mark Waid writes this tale of the FF racing against time to stop a meteor of unknown origin crashing into Manhattan, potentially killing millions. (I could be wrong, but that cover does feel like a bit of a spoiler as to what that meteor might be...)

  • INCAL TP - An all new comic shop-exclusive softcover edition of the Jodorowsky and Moebius classic! If you've never experienced the cosmic adventures of John Difool before, you should remedy that right here.

And that's all the news that's fit to print! See you next week!

Andrew.
