The Gosh! Authority 27.08.25
Hello!
It's a beast of an event week! Let's get into it: first up we have Marc Jackson and Tor Freeman here on Wednesday, 6-7pm, signing copies of the second issue of GOOF, a brilliant humour magazine. Details here.
Then the lovely Hamish Steele will be in the house on Thursday, 7-9pm, to lauch Go-Man: Champion of Earth (which looks fantastic). Details here.
And finally, on Saturday we unleash the inaugural Gosh!Fest! Our very own small press festival, running from 11am to 6pm with an amazing line-up of small press creators appearing throughout the day to sell and sign their wares! This looks to be a highlight of our annual calendar going forward, so come along and say you were there at the start! Details here.
Just a reminder that because of that pesky bank holiday, you'll have to wait a few hours for your comics this week (if the courier is kind). Books will be arriving with us on Wednesday and we'll get them on the shelves as quickly as possible, but you may want to leave it until the afternoon.
Okay, going to keep it brief this week, because I'm actually on a waterslide at a Belgian Center Parcs right now (or eating waffles or something). But a week ago I was at home on a Wednesday evening, busily anticipating what might lie ahead, knowing that the gentle editing hand of Greg would bang it all into shape and get it out to you in time. Thanks Greg!
Let's get to it.
HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
- THE KNIVES: A CRIMINAL BOOK HC - What a week to be away! Not only do we get a new Brubaker & Phillips hardcover, but it's set in the world of Criminal! Three tales wind together into a satisfying whole, featuring some familiar faces we haven't seen for a while (but may well see again soon in an upcoming television series...)
- UNIVERSAL MONSTERS THE INVISIBLE MAN #1 - James Tynion IV and Dani retell the tale of Jack Harlow - the Invisible Man - in their own indomitable style. Come along for the ride as we watch him descend into madness in his pursuit of science. Curse you science, you'll destroy us all!
- IMMORTAL LEGEND BATMAN #1 - A cosmic Elseworlds Batman tale from Kyle Higgins, Mat Groom and Erica D'Urso. Long ago, humanity unlocked a shadow dimension, and from this calamity a new hero was born who harnessed the power of both universes. Thought to have long-since given up the fight, it seems he has now returned.
- IMPERIAL WAR PLANET SHE-HULK #1 - Jennifer Walters brings the law to New Sakarr, big green fist-style! Jonathan Hickman, Stephanie Phillips and Emilio Laiso drop in a nice little Imperial one-shot tie-in.
- IMPERIAL WAR BLACK PANTHER #1 - Make that two nice little Imperial one-shot tie-ins, though this time Hickman is teaming with Victor LaValle and CAFU to catch up on T'Challa, who needs to survive an attack by the World Breaker Hulk and Amadeus Cho if he's got any chance of clearing his name.
- MAN WHO DREAMT THE IMPOSSIBLE A TRIBUTE TO JACK KIRBY #1 - A curious fable of the life of Jack Kirby by Mario Freitas and Lucas Pereira. A young caregiver helps the aging Jack, a once creative dynamo who has let his library fall into disrepair, allowing it to house a sinister presence.
- NEMESIS FOREVER #1 - Mark Millar and Matteo Scalera return for another chapter in the life of Nemesis, this time with world conquest on his mind. Man, that guy is such a jerk.
- MORTAL THOR #1 - Al Ewing and Pasqual Ferry begin a new era for the mighty Thor where...he isn't there? But there's a guy walking around with a hammer and - as ever with Ewing - whatever way you think this is going to go, there's a good chance you'll be surprised.
- DOOMED 2099 #1 - A Doom 2099 tale by Frank Tieri & Delio Diaz where some of your standard witnesses to dystopian Marvel futures - Old Man Logan, Maestro, Rachel Summers, Dethlok, etc - pay him a visit to make their feelings known about Doom ruling the world.
- STITCH #1 - Never mind that pesky Lilo kid. Stitch goes solo courtesy of James III, Connor Ratliff and Greta Xella.
And that's it, I'm off for a go on Monkey Splash! See you next week!
Andrew & Greg.
