The Gosh! Authority 29.05.24
Hello!
If you're about this evening (Tuesday the 28th) then be sure to pop down at 6-7pm to meet Jordan Thomas and the legendary Shaky Kane, who will be signing their new collection, The Man From Maybe (which we have a special early release on for the signing)! Details here.
Just a reminder: due to the bank holiday weekend, the delivery will be arriving to go out tomorrow. So best to leave it until lunchtime before coming down to get the new goodies. Speaking of which:
HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
- X-MEN THE WEDDING SPECIAL #1 - With a lead story by Kieron Gillen and Rachael Stott, the marriage of Mystique and Destiny is told at last. Also featuring additional tales by Tate Brombal, Tini Howard, Wyatt Kennedy, Emilio Pilliu, Jenn St. Onge & Phillip Sevy, it's an historic X-Men issue in time for Pride month. Also, interestingly, the first lesbian wedding in the Marvel Universe!
- WILLIAM OF NEWBURY #1 - The high concept of this new series by Michael Avon Oeming is "Hellboy meets Redwall". Sold! Set in an anthropomorphised 12th Century England, William is a monk who stands firm against the supernatural world while having some difficulty with the real one. Looks unrelated to his previous series The Mice Templar, so I guess he just likes cute medieval animal-people?
- GROMMETS #1 - Rick Remender, Brian Posehn & Brett Parson get all nostalgic in this look back at mid-eighties skatepunk culture. It's a coming of age tale as two friends escape the dysfunction of their home lives and find family with fellow outcasts. And given that it's Remender and Posehn, I imagine there will be bad behaviour and laughs along the way.
- DEATH RATIO'D #1 - A satirical one-shot from upcoming X-Factor scribe Mark Russell and artist Vladimir Krstić-Laci. Set in a future where Likes and Dislikes quite literally decide your fate thanks to an explosive collar linked to your social media, a man wakes from a 20 year coma to discover he's one down-vote away from a messy end.
- DC PRIDE 2024 #1 - DC's annual Pride anthology is here, with the usual line-up of stories starring DC's LGBTQ+ heroes (and their LGBTQ+ creators). Featuring the likes of Ngozi Ukazu, Al Ewing and Phil Jiminez.
- MIDNIGHT SUNS BLOOD HUNT #1 - 90s darlings the Midnight Sons are back in action, thanks to Bryan Hill & Germán Peralta. Their mission this time: take down Blade!
- BLACK PANTHER BLOOD HUNT #1 - Newly vampirised, the King of Wakanda has a job to do for Blade. But first he's due a little visit home courtesy of Cheryl Lynn Eaton and Farid Karami.
- HELLVERINE #1 - The return of Hellverine, the fiery combo of Wolverine and the demon Bagra-Ghul. Benjamin Percy and Julius Ohta bring back ol' flame-claws, but whether on the side of heaven or hell remains to be seen.
And that's it! See you next week, folks!
