The Gosh Authority 30th August 2023

Hello!

Paul here, filling in for Andrew once more! Don’t worry, it’ll only last for a couple of weeks and we’ll release him once the ransom's been paid. It’s a short blog this week as comics are due for delivery and on sale Wednesday. As per most bank holiday weeks, we’re expecting the delivery sometime in the afternoon and the comics to be on the shelf shortly after, so do call before making the trip into town.  Also, due to a mishap, there are no Image titles this week. We should get those back in with next week's delivery, so keep your eyes peeled! Events-wise, we’ve got some cool stuff happening this week, starting with artist A.C. Macdonald dropping by for The Twistwood Tales signing on Saturday 2nd September between 1-2pm. This is an all ages event, so come on by with the kiddies and give them a treat befor they head back to School! Get details here.

Looking ahead, we have the incredibly talent Si Spurrier and Charlie Adlard coming in, along with Sofie Dodgson, Jim Campbell and Tom Mueller joining them for our Damn Them All signing event on Saturday 9th September, from 1-2pm. This is one you’re not going to miss! Get details here.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • DSTLRY: THE DEVIL'S #1 - There’s a lot of excitement building up for this first release from the upstart digital / print publisher. They’ve got a great roster of creators attached so this should be pretty cool. This one-shot will serve as a line-wide starter, introducing the publisher’s first round of books. We’re expecting this to go fast, so get in early!

  • MS. MARVEL: THE NEW MUTANT #1 - We all knew it was gonna happen! Kamala Khan returns (thankfully), only now she’s a mutant not an Inhuman, as per the vagries of her hit TV show. This has Kamala dealing with the fallout from that crazy Hellfire Gala just a couple of week’s back. What a way to start your new life as a mutant!

  • BATMAN / CATWOMAN: THE GOTHAM WAR – BATTLE LINES #1 - It was only a year or two back that these crazy kids were going to tie the knot and now they’re going at it, batmano el cato! This mini-event is contained to the pages of the Batman-related titles will deal with the fallout from the wedding and the growing rift between Bruce and Selina. Both Bat and Cat writers are on this opening issue, with art by Mike Hawthorne who did fine work on Chip’s second Batman arc.

  • Black Hammer: The End #1 - The almost certainly very probably last Black Hammer series begins this week! Jeff Lemire’s tribute to the Golden, Silver and Modern ages of funny books has been one of Dark Horse Comics’ most successful and has been a fun ride all the way. If this is the beginning of the end, we’ll be sorry to see it go. This has Malachi Ward, whose been doing so great stuff of late, on art duties.

That’s it for now, folks! See you next week
