The Gosh! Authority 31.01.24
Hello!
This Wednesday, 7-9pm, sees the launch party for Steve Webb's new kids graphic novel Peng and Spanners: Who Stole All the Pizzas. Come on down and get a signed copy of the first book in this new series! Details here.
HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
- DEAD X-MEN #1 - Remember that brand new X-Men team that was announced in the last Hellfire Gala special, before being unceremoniously torn apart by Nimrod? Well, they're back! Raised from the dead by Xavier, Dazzler, Frenzy, Jubilee, Prodigy, and Cannonball are on a mission through time and space to save mutantkind. Writer Steve Foxe teams up with artists Bernard Chang, Jonas Scharf & Vincenzo Carratù for this 4-issue mini.
- MOON MAN #1 - Musician Scott Mescudi (aka Kid Kudi) teams up with Kyle Higgins and Marco Locati for a new series. It's about an ex-astronaut who took part in a failed moon mission, one where he was left with chunks of missing time that he has no memory of. But the consequences of what happened in those missing memories are about to change his life forever.
- DC POWER 2024 #1 - DC's annual spotlight on Black characters and creators is here, with 10 stories in a bumper-sized issue. Of particular note is an epilogue to the award-winning Far Sector by N.K. Jemisin and Jamal Campbell, where Jo Mullein meets Jon Stewart for the very first time.
- SHOOK SC - A who's who of Black creators contribute to this horror anthology published by Dark Horse in association with Second Sight Publishing. Something of a spiritual successor to Tales From the Hood, with more of a Southern Gothic flavour.
- LILO & STITCH #1 - One of the most underrated of the traditionally animated Disney films at the time of its release (see also: Emperor's New Groove), Lilo & Stitch seems to have picked up a considerable following in the years since its release. Now Greg Pak and Giulia Giacomino bring us some all new adventures of Hawaiian girl Lilo and her alien Stitch.
- JILL AND THE KILLERS #1 - A new teen mystery comic by Olivia Cuartero-Briggs and Roberta Ingranata. Jill has returned to school after the unsolved disappearance of her mother, only to find there's a new craze sweeping class: a true crime subscription game that's personalised to the player. But when Jill starts to play, it seems there might be very real clues pointing to the fate of her mother and others who have vanished.
- TRINITY SPECIAL #1 - A oversized collection of Trinity's early appearances, which is mainly notable for the inclusion of an all-new Tom King and Daniel Sampere short story.
And that's it for a very light Previews week!
