Battle Action Special Signing With Garth Ennis, Mike Dorey, John Higgins & Sally Jane Hurst

Action & Battle are back in an all-new deluxe hardcover special! To celebrate, we're hosting a super Saturday signing with contributors Mike Dorey, Garth Ennis, John Higgins & Sally Jane Hurst right here on Saturday 11th June from 1-2pm! 

In it's first incarnation, Action was created as an a reflection of the changing tastes and ideals of the 70s, creating instant controversy for it's blood-soaked violence and gritty tone. Of course, this is also what made it hugely popular.. Once it had attracted the attentions of evangelical conservative Mary Whitehouse, its days were numbered, with WH Smiths and John Menzies refusing to stock the book. 

It was absorbed into Battle, it's slightly older war-themed sibling, which changed its title to Battle Action for a time. Battle would continue as one of the more popular of the boys adventure comics, and spawned notable hits such as Charleys War, One Eyed Jack and Hellman of Hammer Force (and in time would in turn be swallowed by the resurrected Eagle in the dying days of British kids comics). 

As part of 2000AD's 45th anniversary celebrations, Garth Ennis and a host of favourite creators have got together to put out a one-off, hardcover collection of 8 new stories, reimagined from Action and Battle. Coming from Ennis, you know Action's got its teeth back!

The artistic talent behind the new book contains the likes of vetern artist Mike Dorey (Eagle, Warlord), John Higgins (Dredd, Beyond Watchmen) and Sally Jane Hurst (Dredd, Tharg's Future Shocks), all of whom we'll be welcoming to the store for the signing. Battle Action Theatre also marks the return of comics legend Kevin O'Neill, with his first published comics work since wrapping up The League of Extraordinay Gentlemen with Alan Moore in 2019!
