The Gosh! Authority 01.06.22

Hello!

In case you missed it this week, we announced a double-header Bog Eyed Book launch party! Tor Freeman will be celebrating the release of Sister Clawdetta: Murder at the Monastary, while David Ziggy Greene will be toasting his new picturebook Walkies! Mark your diearies: Friday 19th June, 7-9pm, for an actual-to-goodness, rootin' tootin' launch party, with drinks and all! Check here for details!

This past weekend saw our sale of the late Garry Leach's private collection, with a healthy amount of money made for his estate. Thanks to all who came down and picked some stuff up from Garry's collection, we're sure you found plenty of gems! We still have a large amount of items left, so we'll be filtering that out over time, including an upcoming dedicated space in the store. Watch this space for more news.

Just a reminder that with the double bank holiday this week, next week's books will be arriving on Thursday the 9th to go out then. It's difficult to estimate when we might receive the delivery, but expect everything to be out on the shelves by mid-late afternoon.

Apologies for the radio silence last week. I spent a few nights in hospital after a bit of a health scare. All okay, I'm happy to report, but a few things had to fall by the wayside in the scramble to cover for me!

On with the comics! Bit of a tiddler this week, I'm afraid, but there's a few noteworthies...

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • CLOSET #1 (OF 3) - A new James Tynion IV horror series? Go on, then. Tynion teams up with artist Gavin Fullerton for a tale about fear, and how it resonates throughout a family. Fear of responsibility, or growing older, of the ghosts of the past, and of quite literal monsters in the closet. This is the first print edition of a series that was initially serialised through Tynion's Substack, and word on it is very positive indeed. So if you've a taste for some horror comics, jump on board!

  • JUSTICE LEAGUE ROAD TO DARK CRISIS ONE SHOT - If you like your horrors of the more super-powered variety, then the lead-in to the next big (BIG) DC event continues with this one-shot that explores a world without the JLA (spoilers for Justice League #75 if you're behind on your reading pile). Brandon Thomas, Joshua Williamson, Chuck Brown, Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Stephanie Phillips, Jeremy Adams, Clayton Henry, Dan Jurgens, Emanuela Lupacchino, Leila Del Duca, Fico Ossio & Rosi Kämpe present a collection of short stories.

  • NEWTHINK #1 (OF 5) - A new anthology series telling tales of the dark side of technology, written by Greg Hurwitz with a changing line-up of artists on each issue. First up is the ever-popular Mike Deodato, with a story that posits the evolution of human technology as part of a nefarious plan by alien intelligence. Always nice to get some done-in-one monthly books on the shelves.

And that's it! See you next week, folks! Promise!
