The Gosh! Authority 01.09.21

Hello!

In case you missed it, this week we announced the release of Marshal Law Super Babylon, an A3 Giclee print which features a gleefully gruesome depiction of everyone's favourite hero hunter. Remastered from the original art, this presentation of the classic Super Babylon cover image is limited to an edition of just 50, and retails for £45. Snap one up quick!

Just a reminder that due to the bank holiday the new comics won't be getting here until Wednesday morning (fingers crossed), and out onto the shelves as quick as we can. Best to leave popping in until the afternoon or Thursday. Keep an eye on social media, where we'll make an announcement as soon as everything is out.

Okay, I'm back from a week's camping and rearing to go!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • PROVIDENCE COMPENDIUM TP - Better late than never, all 12 issues of Alan Moore and Jacen Burrows' Lovecraftian epic are collected into one stonking volume! One of Moore's last comic works, Providence is both celebration and deconstruction of the works of HP Lovecraft, warts and all. And we've still got some copies available of the beautiful bookplate (seen below) that Jacen has kindly produced for us which you can order via the webstore right now. Not only that, but all orders placed by the end of this week will be going into the draw to win the original art for the plate!

  • BATMAN FEAR STATE ALPHA #1 - The big finale for James Tynion IV's Batman run kicks off here! With interiors by variant cover darling Riccardo Federici, this issue sets up a massive crossover for the Bat-books as Bruce and pals take on the combined threat of the Scarecrow and Peacekeeper-01.

  • DARK AGES #1 (OF 6) - Inexplicably-not-the-next-Batman-writer Tom Taylor is up to his old tricks: dystopian alternate versions of your favourite heroes battling against insurmountable odds. In a world where the heroes of Earth have fallen to a seemingly undeaftable enemy, new versions of the classic Marvel characters rise to take up the challenge. With art by Iban Coello, this pleasingly self-contained mini was delayed by the pandemic, but hits at last with Taylor's star ascending thanks to his Nightwing run.

  • ST MERCY #1 (OF 4) - The Old West meets the Incan Empire, as a group of bandits incur the wrath of an Incan descendent who has been tasked with guarding a cache of cursed gold. An adventure tale by screenwriter John Zuur Platten & Atilio Rojo.

  • ALMOST AMERICAN #1 - Ron Marz and Marco Castiello tell the tale of Janosh and Victorya Neumann, two Russian spies who defected to the USA in an attempt to live the American Dream, but instead found themselves tossed about in a US intelligence services turf war. Not to mention the figures from their past who would rather see them silenced. Made in close collaboration with the Neumanns for that extra tang of authenticity!

  • LAST ANNIHILATION WICCAN AND HULKLING #1 - Newlyweds in peril! Anthony Oliveira & Jan Bazaldua bring us a Last Annihilation crossover featuring Wiccan and Hulkling as they scramble to take on the menace of Dormammu.

  • AQUAMAN 80TH ANNV SPECTACULAR #1 - A 100 page celebration of DC's premiere aquatic hero with a who's who of Aquaman creators past and present. Also, Jason Momoa was in the shop this week, which is relevant. He's HUGE.

  • GHIBLIOTHEQUE HC - A Studio Ghibli lover's dream, based on the podcast of the same name. This totally up to date deep dive into every Ghibli film is presented in a lovely hardcover, with reviews of each film, production details, fun facts, and cultural explanations that might go over the head of Western audiences. A+ gift.

And that's it for this week, folks! See you next time, when the kids are back at school and we start the downhill slide to (*gasp*) CHRISTMAS!

Andrew.
