The Gosh! Authority 05.04.23

Hello!

Paul here, filling in for Andrew for a couple of weeks whilst he enjoys a well-earned holiday. Just a quick reminder that Easter is near, so next week's comics will be delivered and on sale on the same day. Given previous Good Friday / Easter Monday delivery schedules, this means comics will likely be on the shelf Thursday 13th April, so keep an eye on our socials and website for more details nearer the time.

Now on to the fun stuff: This week, our events-packed April gets underway with none other than Reinhard Kleist live and in person to launch his latest musical bio, this time on David Bowie's Stardust Years: Starman! Reinhard will be signing copies of his new book from Self Made Hero, in-store for a launch party on Thursday 6th April 2023, 7-9 pm, so come join us. Get the details here.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • Planet Of The Apes #1

It's a quiet week, but we still get to go ape with the first Marvel Planet Of The Apes title since 1977! This looks set to take its cue from the more recent POTA movies, with Bitter Root co-creator David F. Walker on writing duties, and Iron Fist and Star Wars: High Republic artist Dave Wachter on pencils, this may make you love every ape you see from Chimpan-A to Chimpanzee! This is the first of Marvel's books for their new, film-based 20th Century imprint, which will also include the new runs of Alien and Predator.

  • Hairball #1

Hot on the heels of Spy Superb, this is Matt Kindt's latest mind-bender, re-teaming him with regular co-conspirator Tyler Jenkins for a story that takes its inspiration from Miyazaki... And Junji Ito. And that's why we know you're going to love it!

  • Hey Kids, Comics Vol. 3 #1

Howard Chaykin's fictionalised account of the many wrongs corporate thinking has heaped upon the writers and artists of your favourite comics now turns its attention to the modern age and fandom. It'll be interesting to see the reaction to this one, as Chaykin doesn't pull punches.

  • Saga #63

We're always excited for more Saga here at Gosh and we know you are too, so we can't let this week pass us by without mentioning the new issue. We're midway through the latest arc, so expect the story to really intensify as we head towards another of Brian K. Vaughn's and Fiona Staples' excellent and emotionally fraught cliffhangers!

That's it for this week! Catch you next week for more Gosh goodness!
