The Gosh! Authority 05.08.20

Hi folks!

In case you missed it, we announced a couple of upcoming exclusive bookplate editions this past week. First up is Vision, the latest book from the one and only Julia Gfrörer.

It's the story of a nineteenth-century spinster and the haunted mirror that offers an escape from her frustrated life. Julia has done us this striking bookplate image, and you can pre-order a copy of the signed, limited edition on the webstore now, for release late August.

And then, when the gruesome mayhem of Johnny Ryan's Prison Pit is unleashed upon us in a complete hardcover edition later this month, you can treat yourself to a signed, limited bookplate edition!

Revel once again in Cannibal Fuckface's relentless, gory quest to esacpe the Prison Pit, or even discover its sublime savagery for the first time in this lovely edition. Pre-order a copy now!

Never fret, admin fans, I've got you covered this week! As you probably know, a number of titles have been delayed in reaching the UK. Well, the reason for this is that due to shipping capacity and cost restraints, Diamond have been surface shipping some of their freight. It's not ideal, of course, but if it helps to keep the costs down then we're okay with it. Happily a couple of containers have now docked and we should be starting to see the MIA titles over the next few weeks.

In other news, Olive is working through the standing order boxes and getting in touch with anyone who has accumulated over £50 worth (our threshold for free shipping to S/Os). If you think you might have a build up but haven't heard anything, do please drop us a line in case we have out of date contact details (it definitely happens). We really need folks to clear their boxes right now: new product is coming in every week which has to be paid for at the end of every month, and I'm now up to four long boxes of S/O overspill that won't fit into our usual SO shelves.

Okay, on with the comics...

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • BAD MOTHER #1 - This new crime thriller from Christina Faust and Mike Deodato follows a suburban mum as she tries to find her teenaged daughter amid the criminal underbelly of suburbia.

  • DARK NIGHTS DEATH METAL LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHTS #1 - A collection of short stories focusing on the twisted companions of the Batman Who Laughs. We don't have a lot of these coming in and it's gone crazy in the secondary market as it features the first appearance of Robin King. We'll be limiting these to one per person, and will be taking reservations from exisiting standing orders only, so let me know if you'd like it sooner rather than later!

  • GIANT SIZE X-MEN FANTOMEX #1 - Jonathan Hickman & Rod Reis turn their attention to one of Grant Morrison's best additions to the X-Men canon: Weapon XIII, aka sauve super-thief Fantomex!

  • HORIZON ZERO DAWN #1 - A sequel to the hit game written by Anne Toole - one of the game's writing team - and drawn by Ann Maulina. I put around 70 hours of my life into this game, so sign me up.

  • LORDS OF EMPYRE CELESTIAL MESSIAH #1 - It's Quoi vs Mantis in this one-shot by Gosh fave Alex Paknadel & Alex Lins!

  • PARASITE GRAPHIC NOVEL IN STORYBOARDS - The Oscar-winning film as a graphic novel, courtesy of Bong Joon Ho's detailed storyboards accompanied by the film's dialogue. There are also extras such as concept drawings and set photos, which make this a must for fans of the film. Also, if you liked this but haven't seen his earlier film Memories of Murder, you need to remedy that right now.

  • RESIDENT ALIEN OMNIBUS TP VOL 01 - A bumper collection of the first three volumes of Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse's brilliant cult-favourite series just in time for the upcoming TV adaptation.

  • VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE #1 - The legendary RPG gets only its second ever comics adaptation (which is kind of surprising to be honest). Tim Seeley, Tini Howard, Blake Howard (A) Dev Pramanik, Nathan Gooden

  • WONDER 3 OSAMU TEZUKA GN -  Three aliens disguise themselves as animals in order to assess Earth's readiness to join the galactic commuinty in this clssic Tezuka adaventure tale.

And that's your lot, friends! See you next week!

Andrew.
