The Gosh! Authority 06.04.22

Hello!

Big signing coming up this Saturday as Al Ewing & Ram V will be here from 1-2pm to sign copies of the first collection of their Venom series! Al and Ram will happily sign anything else you might bring along (though number of items may be limited for the sake of time), so get yourself down here to meet two of the hottest writers in the industry! Details here.

And in case you missed it, we also announced two more signings over the past week!

First up, Oliver Gerlach, Joe Glass and Hamish Steele will be here on Saturday June 25th, 1-2pm, to sign copies of their new queer romance anthology Young Men In Love. Get the full details here.

Then, the one and only Bryan Talbot will be here on Saturday July 16th, 1-2pm, to celebrate the release of The Legend of Luthor Arkwright, a definitive hardcover collection of the adventures of his dimension-hopping hero. Details here.

Bryan has also generously provided us with an all-new piece of art to serve as a bookplate for the edition, limited to 200 copies, which you can preorder using this link

And as if that wasn't enough, we also announced two more new upcoming Gosh! exclusive bookplate editions.

Gosh! fave Tillie Walden's graphic novel trilogy featuring the star of the Telltale Games Walking Dead series kicks off in June with Clementine Book One!

Tillie has signed 200 plates for us featuring an image from the book, available to you as usual at no extra cost. You can pre-order you copy right now by clicking on this link.

And the legendary Julie Doucet, winner of this year's Grand Prix lifetime achievement award at Angoulême, returns after a more than 20 year abscence from comics with an all-new graphic novel: Time Zone J.

Julie has kindly provided us with an original illustration for a 200-edition signed bookplate! The book is due later this month, but you can preorder a copy now using this link.

Yep, things are properly cranking back up again. Expect more event and bookplate announcements soon!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • X-MEN RED #1 - Peace doesn't come easily to the mutants of Arrako (now residing on the planet formerly known as Mars). But with Storm as their regent, the tribes which have warred for centuries are learning to live side by side, if not always successfully. Into this volatile mix comes Abigail Brand, with her own ideas of how the mutant world should be dealt with. Not to mention Roberto da Costa, who has set himself up as a Rick-like figure in the Casablanca stand-in of Red Lagoon. Big politics, intrigue and action in this new X-book from Al Ewing and Stefano Caselli.

  • SPIDER-PUNK #1 - First appearing in the pages of Spider-Verse, I'm surprised it's taken this long for Hobie Brown - the Anarchic Spider-Punk - to get his own sseries. But at last we're here, as Cody Ziglar and Justin Mason tell a tale of the Spider-Man of Earth-138, following on directly from the events of Spider-Verse #2, with the defeat of Norman "Ozzy" Osbourne. Things are far from smooth in the aftermath as Spidey and friends deal with the world that Ozzy made.

  • MARAUDERS #1 - Cap'n Kitty Pryde and her Marauders are back in a relaunched series with new creative team Steve Orlando and Eleonora Carlini. Continuing their mission to save mutants from mutant-hostile nations, they enlist the services of none other than Cassandra Nova to solve a mystery that stretches back to pre-history. Yes, THAT Cassandra Nova.

  • BATMAN BEYOND NEO-YEAR #1 - The newly sentient Neo-Gotham has killed Bruce Wayne, and has its sights set on Terry McGinnis. Following on from the events of Batman Urban Legends #7, this all-new miniseries for the future Batman sees Terry on the run from a brand new cast of bad guys created by the crazed AI. Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing (who wrote the surprisingly entertaining Kang the Conqueror) and Max Dunbar are at the creative helm.

  • WEST OF SUNDOWN #1 - A horror western written by Tim Seeley and Aaron Campbell (who also provides the lovely cover) with art by Jim Terry. A vampire countess, Constance Der Abend, flees the old world only to find monster hunters in the New World too. Heading south, she finds shelter in an off-the-map border town, Sangre De Moro, along with her ex-confederate henchman, Dooley. It's Sergio Leone meets Hammer Horror!

  • ALICE EVER AFTER #1 - A grown up Alice seeks solace in the Wonderland of her youth to escape the traumatic memories that plague her. But to get back she needs to feed an addiction which sends her into a downward spiral of crime. Her only hope is to find the strength to leave the imaginary world behind and face the truths that have left her scarred. Dan Panosian flexes his writing muscles, with art by Giorgio Spalletta.

  • EARTH PRIME #1 - A new mini-series expanding on the adventures of DC's television universe (can we still call it the Arrow-verse?), beginning with Batwoman. Each issue will cover a different show, with the final issue acting as a crossover that pays off the story. And it's all part of the TV canon! By Camrus Johnson, Natalie Abrams, Kelly Larson & Clayton Henry.

And that's your lot for this week, chums! See you next time!

Andrew.
