Hello!

noisy-valley-600.jpg

It's a double-launch week, with two celebrations! First up is Myfanwy Tristram's celebration of the power of protest, Noisy Valley, from SelfMadeHero. Myfanwy will be here Thursday, 7-9pm. Details here.

The on Friday, 7-9pm, Clarice Tudor will be in residence to celebrate the release of her new book 'Tis Thee, Not Me, from Clarkson Potter. Get the details on that one here.

Just a reminder that thanks to the bank holiday weekend, the delivery will be arriving to go out on Wednesday. Once we've got our sweaty little hands on the comics we'll get them on the shelves as quickly as possible, but realistically it'll be lunchtime at least.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT #1 - The brotherly team of Matthew Rosenberg and Mark Elijah Rosenberg team up with artist Andy MacDonald for a tale of a post-human future. While most robots continue their intial purpose in the distant future, one Abraham Lincoln robot dares to ask if there's more to life than this.

  • BEN 10 #1 - A Ben 10 comic with all his original creators taking turns? Sounds great! The Men of Action studio of Joe Casey, Steven T. Seagle, Joe Kelly and Duncan Rouleau relaunch their cartoon hero for a new generation, with Casey and artist Robert Carey handling the first issue.

  • CIVIL WAR UNMASKED #1 - Civil War turns 20 this year, so what better way to celebrate than a mini-series uncovering untold tales of that massively influential event? Christos Gage and Edgar Salazar devote each issue to one character's previously unseen journey during those events. This time around, Tony Stark is spirited away to the future by Bishop for a revelation that crystallizes his views around the Registration Act.

  • FALL OF THE HOUSE OF SLAUGHTER #1 - James Tynion IV, Tate Brombal, Werther Dell'Edera and Adriano Turtulici present a power struggle for the future of the House of Slaughter as the Old Dragon nears his end.

  • TALES OF THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS GUY GARDNER #1 - Gerry Duggan, Matteo Lolli and
Laura Braga spin a one-shot starring everyone's favourite superpowered meathead. This time he's squaring off against all manner of threats, including one John Stewart.

  • JUBILEE DEADLY REUNION #1 - Jubilation Lee learns she has a previously unknown cousion in this mini-series by Gene Luen Yang and Michael YG. More than that, he's a mutant with unknown abilities who's in need of some help. Or is he?

  • DC X SONIC THE METAL LEGION #1 - Given how well the first one of these sold, it's not really a surprise to see a second outing! Ian Flynn and Adam Bryce Thomas pur their toys on the floor and bash them together for an outing that some are calling "the Watchmen of intellectual property exploitation." Who's saying that? Oh...err...y'know...some people.

  • ASTONISHING MILES MORALES SPIDER-MAN THE ART OF THWIP #1 - Collecting the infinity comic by Cody Ziglar and Alessandro Miracolo into print for the first time. A fun little one-shot for anyone looking for some solid superheorics (or a kid looking to read some Miles Morales comics).

  • DOG TAG #1 - Mark Russell and PJ Holden follow an American Corporal through the final year of World War II, beginning with the D-Day invasion of Normandy. Based on real stories and events, this is a bit of a departure from Russell's satirical sci fi, but is certainly up PJ Holden's street. Worth checking out, I reckon.

And that's all she wrote for this week! Until next time...
