The Gosh! Authority 10.08.22

      Hello!

Paul here. I’m filling in for Andrew for a bit, so this week, you don’t have to read the blog aloud in a New Zealand accent. There’s a lot happening in the store this week, with events and new comics aplenty, so let’s get started with the launch party of artist, writer and designer extraordinaire Rian Hughes’ unique architectural sci-fi novel, The Black Locomotive. Join Rian on Thursday 11th August from 7-9pm at Gosh! Get all the details here.

Saturday 13th August sees the return of Small Press day to Gosh! We’re on our 7th year partnering with Small Press Day and as with previous years, we’ve got activities planned throughout the day! You can get all the info right here.

On Tuesday 16th August, 7-9pm, we’re thrilled to welcome Nick Drnaso to the store, as he launches his new graphic novel, Acting Class. We’ve teamed up with Nick for an exclusive bookplate, which will be limited to the first 300 copies, so don’t miss your chance to meet Nick and get one. Find out more right here.

Reads also returns this week! London’s best reading group is back at Gosh! and we’re happy to have them. In timely fashion, the group has chose to go deep on Luke Healy’s The Con Artist,a darkly hilarious tale of love, friendship, fraud and the stories we tell that we launched at Gosh just a few short week’s back. As always THE CON ARTISTS is available on the Gosh! website or in the store with the discount code READSAUG2. Buy it here and come meet up at the shop from 19:00 on Wednesday August 10th.

      • LOVE EVERLASTING #1 - The first ever creator-owned comic from DC stalwart Tom King arrives, with gorgeous artwork from Elsa Charretier, making it a must for us! This features a lead character caught in ‘romance-loop’, unable to escape. Doubtless King’s trademark affinity for tragedy will be on display here!

      • PREDATOR #1 - Hot on the heels of the release of Predator prequel ‘Prey’ comes Marvel’s long-awaited new Predator book, starting with an intergalactic tale of revenge! Fan-favourites Ed Brisson and Kev Walker join forces for this one, so don’t miss it!

      • DCEASED WAR OF THE UNDEAD GODS #1 - The final chapter in Tom Taylor’s DCeased saga begins with this Supergirl-centric apocalyptic tale! Taylor re-teams with Trevor Hairsine for as the Anti-Life Equation spreads through the last of the cosmos.

      • X-MEN LEGENDS #1 - Comics legend Roy Thomas returns for a tale set before the seminal Giant-Sized X-Men #1! Beginning with Wolverine’s secret missions for the government before he meets Charles Xavier, this is the first in a new volume of X-Men Legends that fills in a hitherto unknown part of X-History.

      • SACRAMENT #1 - A new Peter Milligan-penned book is always reason to celebrate and he remains as prolific as ever, with this Exorcist meets Alien sci-fi horror set 3000 years after mankind has abandoned Earth. Milligan is a man who knows how to unsettle and scare, so we’re expecting good things from this one!

      • AVENGERS AND MOON GIRL #1 - Why Moon Girl isn’t in the MCU yet we’ll never know! This is the latest in a series of one-shots, pairing the Devil dinosaur wrangler with the big guns of Marvel universe and is probably the most fun of this week’s releases.

      • MS MARVEL & WOLVERINE #1 - Speaking of fun, Marvel team-ups, Kamala Khan is stuck with the grumpiest lupine X-Man there is to investigate a threat to Krakoa!

      • BLADE RUNNER BLACK LOTUS #1 - Blade Runner is a series that continues to grow beyond it’s origins into something new. This latest entry spins out of the Black Lotus Anime series and features Elle trying to make her way in a world where Replicants are now feared.

      • DEADLIEST BOUQUET #1 - Erica Schultz and Carola Borelli’s super-successful kickstarter book finally makes it to stores from Image. Three estranged sisters must reunite to solve their Nazi-hunting mother’s murder. Just the pitch alone makes us want to get this!

      • DARK CRISIS WORLDS WITHOUT A JUSTICE LEAGUE GREEN LANTERN #1 - The tie-in books for Dark Crisis are proving just as exciting as the main book and this is no exception, with Philip Kennedy Johnson and Fernando Blanco on board for this gorgeous comic as John Stewart must join forces with the Red Hood and the blind prophet Kyle Rayner!

See you next week!
