The Gosh! Authority 12.10.22

Hello!

In case you missed it, we've added a fantastic signing to what is already going to be a big day on Saturday 22nd October. Not only will we have the Tripwire 30th Anniversary signing and Jock signing copies of Batman One Dark Knight, but we'll have the one and only Mark Buckingham in store to celebrate the long-awaited release of Miracleman The Silver Age #1! Mark will be here from 2-3pm to sign your copies and have a chat, so come on down! Details here.

But first let's look to this Saturday the 15th, 1-2pm, when Peter Milligan himself will be here to sign copies of The X-Cellent Vol 01! Peter is on top form in the welcome return of his and Michael Allred's weirdest of mutant teams. Get the details here.

On with the comics!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • HITOMI #1 - A female warrior in feudal Japan strives to become that which society will never let her be: a samurai. This looks really intriguing, a tale of determined persistence in the face of overwhelming discrimination, all shot through with frequent, bloody action, by HS Tak and Isabella Mazzanti.

  • BATMAN INCORPORATED #1 - Ed Brisson and John Timms bring back the Bat-pack in this new ongoing, with Ghost-Maker leading the incarnation of BI that was formed during Shadow War. Their first mission is investigating a murder whose victim has direct ties with Ghost-Maker and Batman, and which might just be the beginning of something much bigger.

  • NAMOR THE SUB-MARINER #1 - Ankle Wings is back! But not in the usual lazy movie tie-in manner, I'm happy to say. Christopher Cantwell & Pasqual Ferry spin a tale of a future where Namor now rules supreme over the Earth after a series of cataclysms. Heavy is the head that wears the crown, Grumpy Aquaman!

  • STAR WARS VISIONS #1 - Takashi Okazaki's "The Duel" was far and away the most popular episode of the Disney+ Star Wars Visions animated series, with its feudal Japanese take on the Star Wars universe. Now Okazaki picks up where he left off in that world in this all-new one-shot story.

  • WAKANDA #1 - A mini-series that spotlights the supporting cast of Black Panther, as T'Challa faces the consequences of his recent actions and is in exile from Wakanda. This first issue, by Stephanie Williams & Paco Medina, focuses on Shuri (who my money is on seeing as the new Black Panther at the end of Wakanda Forever).

  • DC’S TERRORS THROUGH TIME #1 - AKA, the 2022 DC Halloween Special! A host of different creators tackles the spooky side of the DCU in a chunky collection of shorts. And if you need any better reason to buy it than "Kelley Jones draws Deadman", then you and I must agree to disagree.

  • HALLOWEEN PARTY #1 - Speaking of Halloween Specials, Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn and Scott Koblish return to the satirical, smokey world of Scotch McTiernan and Weed Thing in this one-shot. I think they might have a specific audience in mind for these things, but I just can't figure out who.

  • CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SALEM #1 - A one-shot special delving into the secret life of Sabrina's cat. But, like, horror universe Sabrina. Salem takes sweet feline revenge on those who would harm the cats and other animals of this world in the Halloween treat.

  • APPROACH #1 - Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley team with artist Jesus Hervás for an all new horror tale about a group of people trapped in a small airport following a blizzard. When a plane that went missing 27 years ago crash-lands, it portends something much worse that lurks in the storm.

Oh, and NEW RECKLESS ALERT!!!!!

That's all, folks! See you next time!

Andrew.
