Christmas is closing in fast! Just a reminder for all you late shoppers that from Monday 20th December - Thursday 23rd December we will be open from 10.30am - 8pm each day, so if you need to pop by after work (or indeed get into town after work) for gift buying, you've got a little extra time. We'll also have the following altered hours over the Christmas / New Year period:

Friday 24th December 10.30am - 4pm

Saturday 25th December - Sunday 26th December CLOSED

Monday 27th December - Thursday 30th December 10.30am - 6pm

Friday 31st December 10.30am - 3pm

Saturday 1st January CLOSED

Sunday 2nd January back to 10.30am-6pm hours every day.

I've been stuck at home with covid for the past week which hasn't been much fun, but I'm nearly back at 100% now (apart from my sense of smell and taste). Back in the store on Wednesday, and boy howdy am I excited about getting my hands on some new comics to read (not to mention hoping I can actually get my hands on a copy of Devils Reign #1 from last week). Shall we have a look?

(But I'm not gonna lie....it's a tiddler!)

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

• BATGIRLS #1 - The writing team of Becky Cloonan and Will Conrad team up with artist Jorge Corona to focus on the teen girls of the Bat-family. Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain navigate life as crimefighters by night and rebellious teens by day, all under the mentorship of Barbara Gordon, aka Oracle. Sounds like the creative team are going for a fun, breezy superhero read.

• BUFFY THE LAST VAMPIRE SLAYER #1 - A post-apocalyptic Buffy tale! We join a 50-something Buffy Summers in the ruins of our world battling against the forces of darkness. All hope is seemingly lost, until she stumbles across a young woman who is seemingly the fulfillment of a prophecy that might just herald humanity's salvation. By Casey Gilly and Joe Jaro.

• TIS THE SEASON TO BE FREEZIN #1 - DC's festive one-shot, the usual bumper batch of short stories by massive list of creative talent. Featuring Harley Quinn, Batman, Flash, Superman, the Justice League Queer and more!

• WASTELANDERS WOLVERINE #1 - Steven S. DeKnight, the man responsible for bringing Daredevil to Netflix (and for the amazing OTT nudity and gorefest that was Spartacus Blood and Sand), takes us back to the world of Old Man Logan, in the aftermath of the original series.With artist Ibrahim Moustafa. DeKnight deals with the consequences of Logan adopting the baby Hulk and the emergence of a new enemy: the adamantium-armoured Downfall. This is one of a series of Wastelanders one-shots set in the OML world.

• BUCKHEAD #1 - An all new conspiracy-minded teen adventure series by Shobo Coker and George Kambadais. Toba moves to a sleepy US town with his scientist mother but quickly discovers not all is as it seems. There's an uncanny computer game simulation of the town that he and his new friends discover, and they're soon being tracked by mysterious men in black. Just regular teen stuff!

• DEMON DAYS RISING STORM #1 - The latest chapter in Peach Momoko's fantasy saga. Mariko Yashida crosses paths with two gods of the storm: Japanese takes on two familar Marvel weather botherers!
