The Gosh! Authority 22.03.23

Hello!

Next Tuesday the 28th March, Comica in association with the Century Club will be hosting Dave McKean, interviewed by Ian Sinclair. The pair will be discussing AI and its implications on the future of art, and our Greg will be there selling copies of Dave's work, including the newly released softcover of Prompt: Conversations With AI. Details here. The event is sold out, but there's a good chance of returns on the night if you fancy taking a chance.

And speaking of Comica, if you're quick you can pick up tickets to this Thursday's talk with Lucie Arnoux and Lucy Sullivan. These two excellent purveyors of autobiographical comics will be discussing that very subject on Thursday the 23rd. And Gosh customers can get 50% off the ticket price if you check out using the code Gosh50. A bargain! Details (and tickets) here.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • DOCTOR STRANGE #1 - It's back to basics for Stephen Strange thanks to Jed McKay and Pasqual Ferry. It all sounds equal parts X-Files, Ghostbusters and Evil (great show, check it out) as the good Doctor is on call for the supernatural problems of the Marvel Universe.

  • DEAD ROMANS #1 - The headline for this is really the stunning art by Nick Marinkovich and José Villarrubia, but the story is certainly intriguing. Fred Kennedy writes this chronicle of Rome's worst military defeat, a battle with the Germanic tribes that took place in Teutoburg forest.

  • BATMAN ONE BAD DAY RA’S AL GHUL #1 - The king of droopy moustaches has his day to shine in the latest (and final for now) One Bad Day one-shot. Ra's only wants what's best for the world: an orderly new order of peace and prosperity with him at the helm in perpetuity. If only that pesky Batman stopped screwing everything up. Tom Taylor and Ivan Reis tell a tale of the Demon himself.

  • ORDER & OUTRAGE #1 - The legendary Jim Starlin teams with Rags Morales for an all-new sci-fi tale. In a future dystopia, the wealthy ensure a line optimised humanity through genetic manipulation, while the poor and mutated at best are ignored and at worst are hunted. Sounds like a recipe for a good old fashioned uprising!

  • NEIGHBORS #1 - Jude Ellison S. Doyle and Letizia Cadonici carve off a slice of folklore in this tale of horror and paranoia. A couple moves into a remote town with their two kids, only to have their teenage offspring involved in a horrifying incident and their mysterious neighbours taking an unsettling interest in their 2-year old daughter. At least they've got that nice mountain air, I guess.

  • DC’S LEGION OF BLOOM #1 - DC's springtime anthology is here, with a bumper bundle of nature-inspired superhero antics from a line-up of creators including Kenny Porter, Dave Wielgosz, Cavan Scott, Zac Thompson, Julio Anta, Calvin Kasulke, Ashley Allen, Travis Moore, Riley Rossmo, Brian Level, Isaac Goodhart, Hayden Sherman, Jacoby Salcedo, Atagun Ilhan & Vitor Cafaggi. Phew!

  • MILESTONE 30TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL #1 - A celebratory anthology starring all the major players of the Milestone universe, written and drawn by all the major players of the Milestone universe, including a fun sounding story where the Milestone of 1993 meets the Milestone of 2023.

  • WOMEN OF MARVEL #1 - Marvel's up-and-coming women creators take on a cast of some of their most beloved female characters in this annual one-shot. America Chavez, Shge-Hulk, Ms Marvel, Monica Rambeau, Captain Marvel and Silk all get the spotlight.

And that's your lot for this week!
