It's time once again to drink, and indeed to draw! Our monthly Drink'n'Draw in association with Broken Frontier is back this Friday! Meet here at 6.30pm before heading along to the pub with guest artists Hamish Steele and Olivia Sullivan, and artist in residence and poster-maker extraordinaire Mark Stafford! Details here.

Just a reminder that Free Comic Book Day / Comics Giveaway Day is happening on Saturday 2nd May! More details very soon, as we're always sorting out the details up to the last minute!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • MARVEL / DC: SPIDER-MAN / SUPERMAN #1 - It's Marvel's turn to bring Peter Parker and Clark Kent together, with stories from the likes of Brad Meltzer, Geoff Johns, Dan Slott, Louise Simonson, Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron, Joe Kelly, Stephanie Phillips, Jeph Loeb, Pepe Larraz, Gary Frank, Marcos Martin, Todd Nauck, Sara Pichelli, Russell Dauterman, Humberto Ramos, Phil Noto, and Jim Cheung! And enough variant covers to choke an elephant!

  • HEAD LOPPER #1 - Listen, if I had my way this would have been #1 this week, but the people want what the people want. Andrew Maclean's superb fantasy tale returns with a new quarterly series, as Norgal (the titular Head Lopper) and his sassy severed-head companion Agatha (one of the titular heads) travel the lands, get into trouble, and slice stuff up. God I love this series.

  • CORPSE KNIGHT #1 - In a war-torn medieval France, a young girl is orphaned and must survive in a hostile world of violence and black magic. But then her father returns as a deadly revenant, offering her protection while undertaking a dangerous quest. A good looking dark fantasy series from Michael Chaves and Matthew Roberts.

  • EVENT HORIZON: INFERNO #1 - Our old pal Christian Ward teams up with artist Rob Carey for another Event Horizon spin-off. Last time we prequelled, this time we sequel! 200 years after the events of the film, a billionaire sends a mission to search for the wreckage of the cursed ship, happy to pay any price for what he might find within.

  • FIREBORN #1 - A Lost Fantasy spin-off by Curt Pires, Franklin Jonas and Patrick Mulholland that sees a wastrel rich kid physically bonded with a dragon egg, granting him supernatural powers. But there are plenty of people to whom that egg has great value, but have no use for the body it resides in. Tough to be a fantasy superhero when everyone wants your head!

    • AMAZING SPIDER-MAN SPIDER-VERSITY #1 - Norman Osborn and Spider-Woman decide it's time to train the next generation of Spider-heroes in this mini-series by Joe Kelly, Jordan Morris and Pere Pérez. School's in for Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Silk, Araña, Spider-Boy, and Spider-Girl.

    • IN YOUR SKIN #1 - It's David Cronenberg via bollywood in this new series from Aditya Bidikar and Somnath Pal. When her favourite movie star (obsession, really) decides to retire, Priyanka makes the decision that she can take her place. After all, she knows all Ayesha Sen's dance moves, all her script lines. It's almost like she could become her...

    • THE DARKNESS VS ANGELUS #1 - Three stories revealing more about the Angelus and her long history fighting against the Darkness. Marc Silvestri, Matt Hawkins, Ryan Cady, Agustín Padilla, Steve Firchow and Pat Boutin all chip in.

    And that's it, pals!

    Andrew.
