The Gosh! Authority 26.04.23

Hello!

We've got rising star Nicole Goux in-store this Thursday 27th April to launch her new book Pet Peeves, from our pals at Avery Hill! Nicole will be here from 7-9pm, so come on down and get your copy signed (and maybe have a drink or two). Get the details here

And then on Saturday it's another double-header of signings! First up we've got the one and only Dave Gibbons in from 1-2pm to sign his autobiographical tome Confabulations. Get the details on that here.

Then the Danish master of the macabre John Kenn Mortensen will be here from 2-3pm to sign copies of his new collection from Fantagraphics, Night Terror (which comes with a free A5 mini-print)! Details here.

We'll also be launching a new Gosh-exclusive print from John on the day, which you can pre-order here!

And latly, just a gentle reminder that next week's bank holiday Monday means the delivery will be delayed, so we'll receive books on the Wednesday to go out Wednesday. Keep an eye on our social media for moreinformation on the day, but don't expect books to be on the shelves until midday at the earliest.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • W0RLDTR33 #1 - After a two week delay thanks to misprinted covers, James Tynion & Fernando Blanco's sci-fi horror launches this week. The Undernet is at the heart of the secret architecture of the internet. A group of friends were early explorers of this secret space, logging their discoveries on the W0rldtr33 message board, but they cut off access to it decades ago when it was hijacked by a disturbing interloper. Now their past is coming back to haunt them, and presumably not in a good way.

  • GREEN ARROW #1 - Oliver Queen is back with a new series by Joshua Williamson and Sean Izaakse. Or rather, he's not back: Oliver is missing, and his friends want to know why. I don't know why either, but it sounds like the answer may have something to do with the end of Dark Crisis, and herald what's to come in the Dawn of DC.

  • STAR WARS DARTH VADER BLACK, WHITE & RED #1 - The artist formerly known as Anakin Skywalker gets the BW&R treament with short stories by a talented crew of people. This issue has Peach Momoko, Torunn Grønbekk, Klaus Janson, Leonard Kirk and Jason Aaron, who will be writing a four-part serial throughout the mini-series.

  • DEEP CUTS #1 - An intriguing new series written by Kyle Higgins and Joe Clark, featuring a different artist on each self-contained issue (Danilo Beyruth on this first issue). Beginning in 1917, Deep Cuts travels through the history of Jazz over the course of 60 years telling fictional tales of musicians and the world they live in. No supernatural twists here: it's all about the music. Future artists include Helena Masellis, Diego Greco, Ramón K Pérez, Juni Ba and Toby Cypress, and there are connecting covers on each issue.

  • ALIEN #1 - I guess they're going to relaunch this every time there's a new creative team now? That's all fine, but I wish they'd treat each as a titled mini or something. Anyway, my admin-related gripes aside, this new series sees Declan Shalvey & Andrea Broccardo take over creative duties and takes us to a remote moon where scientists discover something frozen in the ice, and the spring thaw is just around the corner.

And that's it for this week. See you next time!

Andrew.
