HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

• AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000 - The landmark issue everyone has been waiting for is here! A bumper beast of a comic with a litany of Spidey creators past and present, including the likes of J. M. DeMatteis, Brian Michael Bendis, Frank Miller, Peach Momoko and Fargo & Alien Earth showrunner Noah Hawley!

• THREE WORLDS THREE MOONS SHIFT #1 - The universe of Three Worlds / Three Moons continues to expand with this one-shot by Jonathan Hickman and Mike Del Mundo. Set during the cycle of magic, two childhood friends set out to stop a plot to wake the God Engine, thereby instigating the death of magic and the birth of a new cycle of science.
  

• ALIEN VS X-MEN #1 - Kieron Gillen and Geraldo Borges tip all their toys out on the floor for this mash-up that sees the X-Men inadvertantly returning to Earth with a Xenomorph egg. Fun no doubt ensues, and actually probably will be fun given Gillen is at the helm! Plus there's a backup story by Chris Claremont and David Messina where Brood and Xenomorph meet. And probably kiss or something.

• CIMMERIAN XUTHAL OF THE DUSK #1 - After a bit of a hiatus, Ablaze resumes their translations of French Conan adaptations with this story by Christophe Bec and Stevan Subić. Near dead from thirst, Conan finds a glass city in the middle of the desert.

• HILLBILLY THE TREASON OF TWELVE-TOE MAGGIE #1 - Eric Powell's Appalachian-inflected fantasy horror series returns after a long hiatus. Rondel, our titular Hillbilly, has come under the sway of his former captor, the witch Twelve-Toe Maggie. How in Hell is he gonna break free of that?

• FANTASTIC FOUR FIRST FOES DRAGON MAN #1 - A new film universe one-shot by Greg Pak and Mark Buckingham. This time around the spotlight falls on the ever-loveable Dragon Man, who might be the key to the Thing finally being able to cure himself of his oh-so-hideous rocky condition. Sounds to me like the cure he needs is a good dose of self-worth.

• AMAZING VENOM #1 - Jordan Morris, Luke Ross and Julius Ohta give Fred Meyers and his symbiote Passenger a series all their very own! I must admit, I'm a bit out of touch with the symbiote world at the moment so I had no idea this guy even existed. But you live your best life, Fred & Passenger!
