The Gosh! Authority 05.01.23

Hello!

Afraid we're kicking the new year off with a delay, the price we pay for those holidays we're all so fond of. Nothing arriving until Thursday this week, to go onto shelves the same day. Unsure when that might be (we didn't receive last week's shipment until around 3.30pm!) so give us a call first if you're making a special trip in.

Our events programme is slowly ramping up for 2023, with two announcements so far for February:

On Saturday February 4th, 1-2pm, UK comics legend Paul B Rainey will be here to sign copies of his new Drawn & Quarterly book Why Don't You Love Me? Details here.

Then the following Saturday, February 11th, 1-2pm, Michael Molcher and Pye Parr will be signing copies of Mike's book (with Pye cover) I Am the Law. Get the details on that one here.

It's a tiddler this week, so this won't take long!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • SCARLET WITCH #1 - Wanda's back in an all new series by Steve Orlando and Sara Pichelli (good team!) that sees Wanda trying to atone for the sins of her past by helping those in need. It sounds like a fun pitch, with the Scarlet Witch's mystical door appearing to those who need her assistance the most. She's like a magical, one-woman A-Team.

  • IMAGE! #9 - Really just highlighting this one for the brand new Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips story amidst the other tales in this issue of Image's 30th Anniversary anthology series. Plenty of other goodies there too, including stories by Kieron Gillen, John Arcudi, Doug Mankhe, Skottie Young, Erica Henderson and many more!

  • JOE FIXIT #1 - Peter David revisits one of his best-loved Hulk arcs with these untold tales of Joe Fixit. To those unfamiliar, Joe is the pseudonym adopted by the grey (read: smarter and meaner) Hulk while he worked as an enforcer for the Las Vegas mob. Sadly Jeff Purves, the artist of that era, is no longer in comics, but frequent David collaborator Yıldıray Çınar is on board.

  • MOSELY #1 (OF 5) - A sci-fi satire by Rob Guillory and Sam Lotfi set at the end of the 21st Century when the world is ruled by Big Tech. One man is tasked by a higher power to take his Holy Hammer and smash the technological oppressors: a grumpy old janitor named Mosely.

  • TROJAN #1 (OF 4) - In a near future where faeriekind is abused for humanity's enterainment on the dark web, a mysterious woman enlists the aid of hacker to pursue justice for the Earth's magical folk. Bestselling author (and frequent Guillermo del Toro collaborator) Daniel Kraus is joined by artists Marco & Laci Lesko.

And that's it! See you next week, when life returns to some semblance of normal!

Andrew.
