The Gosh! Authority 05.10.22

Hello!

Thsi week sees acclaimed, award-winning children's author Jon Agee back in-store to celebrate the UK release of his wonderful picturebook My Rhinoceros! Jon will be here on Tuesday October 4th, 7-9pm to raise a glass and sign your books! You can get all the details here.

You may not have noticed, but to the left of the till there is a shelf of sale books! We're having a bit of a clear out of our Genre Fiction section, and there are some crazy deals there, with many titles as low as £1!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • MIRACLEMAN #0 - A little taster in advance of the relaunch of the Silver Age later this month! Featuring a framing sequence by Gaiman and Buckingham and several short stories set in the world of MM by contributors such as Jason Aaron, Mike Carey, Ty TempletonWriter, ArtistTy Templeton, Peach Momoko, Leinil Francis Yu & Paul Davidson. Bascially Miracleman Apocrypha II (you know what I'm talking about, you old Eclipse Comics fans.)

  • SPIDER-MAN #1 - Dan Slott returns for his crowning Spider-Man story - the end of the Spider-Verse! It all kicks off here, with legendary Spider-artist Mark Bagley along for the ride (working together for the first time would you believe). Morlun is back, and hell's comin' with him! (Kurt Russell easter egg for all you Tombstone fans...)

  • GOTHAM CITY YEAR ONE #1 - One man DC machine Tom King returns to the dawning days of Gotham City to tell the story of its descent into corruption and violence. Veteran artist Phil Hester brings some of the noir vibes to this Slam Bradley joint.

  • KAYA #1 - Deadly Class artist Wes Craig brings his amazing draftsmanship and energy to  an all new creator owned title. It's a fantasy adventure tale featuring a young woman and her little brother trekking across a hostile land. She is magically enhanced, with a powerful metal arm, and he might just be the key to a brighter future. I'll tell you this: this book is going to look gorgeous: Craig is one hell of an artist.

  • DARK CRISIS DEADLY GREEN #1 - A Dark Crisis tie-in by Ram V, Alex Paknadel, Dan Watters, Tom Derenick, Brent Peeples, Daniel Bayliss & George Kambadais which gets some of that Crisis energy going with the return of the Great Darkness! Swampy brings together new allies to take on this old enemy.

  • JUNKYARD JOE #1 -  A Geiger spin-off by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, taking us back to the days of the Vietnam War when robotic hero Junkyard Joe stalked the jungle. Another hero of this world, fighting a battle against a great, hidden evil. This is the first of a number of spin-off series exploring the lives of Joe and those that came before and after him.

  • NIGHT OF THE GHOUL #1 - Scott Snyder and Francisco Francavilla team up just in time for Halloween. A film student investigates a fabled "lost" film of the golden era of cinema, whose footage, cast and crew were all killed in tragic circumstances. But when he finds a canister of film that may be the only existing footage of that lost classic, he soon discovers that the tradgedy of the past may not have been an accident.

  • AXE X-MEN #1 - The second of three one-shots that are essentially just a continuation of AXE Judgement Day, so you better grab them if you want to know how it all pans out! Kieron Gillen writes, Francesco Mobili draws.

  • AXE STARFOX #1 - Speaking of AXE spin-offs, here's one that's less critical to the story but is probably worth grabbing as it's still written by Gillen, with art by Daniele Di Nicuolo. Also, it might offer a little light-hearted diversion amidst all the nastiness.

  • EARTHDIVERS #1 - A time-travelling adventure by Stephen Graham Jones & Davide Gianfelice. 90 years from now, as the world stands on the brink of apocalypse, a Native American time traveller heads back to stop the formation of the United States. His mission? Kill Columbus!

  • DARK RIDE #1 - Another Halloween treat from Joshua Williamson and Andrei Bressan, the creators of Birthright. A kid starts work in his dream job: at the Devil Land theme park, only to find that the name (and that of hit ride The Devil's Due) is more than just a playful reference.

  • JOKER MAN WHO STOPPED LAUGHING #1 - The Joker is back in an all-new series by Matthew Rosenberg and Carmine Di Giandomenico, and he's on a cross-country caper that may be his bloodiest yet.

And that's that! Big week, and plenty to sink your teeth into!

Andrew.
