The Gosh! Authority 07.12.22

Hello!

Bit of bad news to kick off this week. All of the Marvel and IDW titles that were due this week are shipping to the UK a week late, so although you may see the likes of Avengers, Dark Web and Thanos Death Notes on shipping lists and review columns this week, you won't find them on these shores until next. Apologies for the delay, and prepare yourself for a monster haul next week!

And of course I'd be remiss not to plug our best of the year lists again! You can find the adult list here, and the kids list here. Good Christmas gift ideas for your loved ones or, even better, yourself!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • ALL AGAINST ALL #1 - We're looking forward to this new title from Alex Paknadel and Caspar Wijngard getting into the wild. It's a fantastic first issue, beginning a tale of the far future where alien conquerors preserve an Earth biome as an exhibit of the long-destroyed planet. Seeking to bolster their power they search for the planet's apex predator find the last human, a creature called Helpless. Paknadel just goes from strength to strength, and Wijngard's art on this is his best yet. Highly recommended.

  • GARGOYLES #1 - The mega-popular 90s cartoon comes back to comics for the first time in over a decade, written by animated series creator Greg Weisman with art by George Kambadais. In continuity with the original series, we rejoin the New York gargoyle clan as they are drifitng apart, each pursuing their own interests. But when a plan is discovered to steal a gargoyle egg, they will have to learn how to work together again. I'll be honest, Gargoyles was a bit after my time, but the demand for it right now seems to be huge, with this looking like Dynamite's biggest selling title ever. I'm guessing you know if you want this one or not!

  • FRANK MILLERS PANDORA #1 - The latest from Frank Miller Presents, a delve into the world of YA conceived by Miller with scripts by Anthony Maranville & Chris Silvestri and featuring art by Emma Kubert. A young woman finds a relic which gives her the power to create her ideal fantasy world. But it soon becomes apparent that her perfect world is invading our own, threatening to destroy reality, and saving it will cost her eveything she loves.

  • DARK CRISIS WAR ZONE #1 - A Dark Crisis anthology showing how the cosmic conflict is playing out with the newest generation of heroes (including Jo Mullein, so count me in!). Contributors include Frank Tieri, Matthew Rosenberg, Delilah S. Dawson, Jeremy Adams, Stephanie Williams, Tom Derenick, Fernando Pasarin, Daniel Bayliss, George Kambadais, Caitlin Yarsky & Serg Acuña.

  • KNOW YOUR STATION #1 - Sarah Gailey and Liana Kangas spin a darkly satirical murder mystery set aboard a space station containing the richest 1%, who have left the rest of humanity behind to perish on a climate blighted Earth. But now someone is knocking them off. Can the killer be found before humanity's last hope is extinguished? Not sure I want them to solve that mystery too quickly, to be honest.

  • HEXWARE #1 - Tim Seeley and Zulema Scotto Lavina ask the question: what if your android maid sold her soul to the devil to solve the murder of your daughter? We've all asked it one time or other, and now you can at last see if someone else concurs with your answers!

  • ITS ONLY TEENAGE WASTELAND #1 - A teenage party while the parents in the way turns into a tale of apocalyptic doom in this new book by Curt Pires and Jacoby Salcedo. How do you come of age while the world burns?

And that's it chums!

Andrew.
